The Coca-Cola Foundation Awards $6 Million to Strengthen Global Community Efforts


$5 million supports fitness, access to clean water, and educational initiatives

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Forty-four community organizations around the world will receive a total of $6 million in grant awards from The Coca-Cola Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company. The grants, approved during thesecond quarter, support community initiatives aimed at improving education, fitness and nutrition programs, community recycling and access to clean water.

“We continue to support local initiatives around the world that are important to our consumers in their own communities,” said Ingrid Saunders Jones, Senior Vice President, Global Community Connections for The Coca-Cola Company, and Chairperson of The Coca-Cola Foundation. “We believe our investment in these 44 community organizations will help people worldwide build stronger, healthier and sustainable communities.”

Since the beginning of the year, The Coca-Cola Foundation has awarded more than $38 million to 123 organizations. Of the $6 million allocated during the second quarter, approximately $5.4 million support the Foundation’s community investment priorities, including:

$1.9 million to healthy active living programs
$1.6 million for water stewardship projects
$1.5 million to educational initiatives

Approximately $1 million will support other local community priorities, such as recycling, youth development, arts and culture, and civic initiatives. Organizations receiving funding include:
