Ghuwaifat Border Point Handled 270,000 Passengers in 38 Days


ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, August 9th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

As many as 270,649 travelers have crossed the Ghuwaifat Border point, arriving and departing, since the beginning of July until the eve of Eid al Fitr (i.e. within 38 days), of whom 83,856 passengers during the last ten days of Ramadan.

This statement was made by Colonel Khamis Musabbah Al Marar, Director of Ports and Airports Security at the Directorate General for Security and Ports Affairs in Abu Dhabi Police GHQ. Colonel Al Marar also pointed out that the directorate provided outstanding services for passengers by ensuring quick completion of transactions and facilitating procedures; noting that many of the passengers were pilgrims who performed the rites of Umrah.   Furthermore, he stressed the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ to provide all travelers, particularly pilgrims, with facilities to ensure smooth and quick completions of travel procedures. Colonel Al Marar called on staff members of the Ghuwaifat Border Point at the Passports Department to overcome obstacles that travellers by land may face, and urged them to exert further efforts.

“The Ghuwaifat Border Point uses state-of-the-art technology in the area of passports and inspection; along with modern electronic gates. The staff members at the Ghuwaifat Border point will not cease providing the outstanding services, in line with the strategy and vision of Abu Dhabi Police aimed at offering best policing services and achieving full customer satisfaction”, indicated Colonel Al Marar.

For his part, Colonel Ghanem Huraiz Al Mazrouei, Chief of the Passports Section at Ghuwaifat Border Point affiliated to the Ports and Airports Security Police Department stated as many as 270,649 travelers have crossed the Ghuwaifat Border point, arriving and departing, during 38 days, between July 1st and August 7. Colonel Al Mazrouei also noted that the number of transactions in this period totaled 127,743 arrivals, while the number of departing individuals amounted to 142,906.

Colonel Al Mazrouei also indicated that 83,856 travelers have crossed the Ghuwaifat Border point during the last ten days of the Holy Month of Ramadam, noting that that the number of transactions in this period totaled 48,733 arrivals, while the number of departing individuals amounted to 35,123.

“All staff members at the border point work within an organized and coordinated framework, with the single goal of  providing outstanding service to passengers, and achieving excellent quality and performance. The border point is equipped with all means of comfort for passengers, including waiting rooms, passports cabins, modern driveways, and other community-based services”, pointed out Colonel Al Mazrouei.

He also stressed that the Passport Section at the Ghuwaifat Border Point will remain ready to facilitate movement of passengers at any time, particularly during Eid Al Fitr, which witnesses a significant increase in passenger traffic.

In parallel, Chief of the Passports Section at the Ghuwaifat Border Point emphasized the need to check the validity of the passport, as well as the residence or entry permit for residents, in addition to all papers pertaining to the vehicle prior to travelling, to avoid any delays and ensure a smooth completion of their transactions.
