The Abu Dhabi Police managed to rescue a French national who had accidentally fell down a well on Sunday. The man had wandered off, trespassed into a private farm and fell down the well unnoticed.

In the details, the Operations Room received a call on Sunday morning from a farmer reporting that a man is trapped in one of the farm’s wells situated in Al Khuraima on the Razeen road, between Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

Immediately upon receiving the call, police squads, including the Civil Defense, ambulance and rescue vehicles, as well as security patrols vehicles rushed to the scene, where they found the 34-year-old man (M.N), trapped down the 25-meter  well for almost four hours. It is worth mentioning that the well was filled with 5 meters of water.

According to Lt. Colonel Hamid Al Afari, Director of Bani Yas Police Station, the man was driving off-road near an agricultural area, when his vehicle got stuck in the sand at around 3:00 am. As he wandered off looking for wooden planks to wedge under the stuck tires, he trespassed into a farm and fell down the 25-meter well.

“In the following morning, one of farm’s laborers heard the distress calls as he was passing nearby and called the police.  The man managed to stay alive by holding on to the main water pipe inside the well.  Using the proper equipment, the man was pulled out of the well and  immediately transferred to Al Mafraq hospital to have his condition evaluated and undergo the necessary treatment,” indicated Lt. Colonel Al Afari.

Police advised people to draw a lesson from this incident and to not expose themselves to any risks, should their cars get stuck in sandy areas. It also urged them the call the Operations Room on 999 to receive police assistance and maintain their safety.
