The
Mobile Dental Care Unit of Abu Dhabi Police has carried out
comprehensive dental check-ups and provided treatment to 269 individuals
in the Central and Eastern regions of the Abu Dhabi Emirate during the
holy month of Ramadan from the end of June till July 10th. This
initiative, carried out in coordination with the Family Development
Foundation, covered the following regions: Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi Gate, Al
Shahama, Ramah, Al Shuaib, Al Hayer, Suwaihan and Al Wagan. The
Mobile Dental Care Unit’s services provided to the public fall in line
with the ‘Plants of Hope’ initiative launched earlier by the police
leadership. This initiative aims to promote the Ministry of Interior’s
community role and to provide the best medical and therapeutic services
to individuals; in support of the Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts to
provide such services and improve their quality. Major Dr. Mohammed
Abdullah Al Raisi, Orthodontist; Dental Clinics Branch Manager at the
Medical Services Department of Abu Dhabi Police, noted that the Unit is
implementing an awareness program for citizens and residents alike. This
program includes comprehensive dental check-ups, screening and tips on
the means to maintain oral hygiene and the importance of taking proper
care of teeth by visiting the dentist regularly to prevent cavities,
decay and gum disease.
“The Unit seeks to provide access to dental
care to all community members to save time and effort and reduced
distances for them. It also carries out comprehensive dental check-ups
and screening, provides necessary advice on good dental and oral
hygiene. The Mobile Dental Care Unit staff conducts medical tests using
the latest equipment on board of the mobile clinic, and refers some
cases to specialized hospitals,” explained Al Raisi. Moreover, he
pointed out that the medical team on board the mobile clinic is
qualified to offer services to people of all ages with a variety of
medical conditions, through a dental surveying program to identify
dental conditions of individuals and provide them with the necessary
treatment.
He also indicated that the individuals have benefited
from the services offered by the Mobile Dental Care Unit, which is
fitted with the necessary equipment to identify dental conditions. The
Mobile Dental Care Unit’s staff also provided necessary advice to the
public who interacted positively with the medical advice and directives,
in a bid to highlight the advantage of carrying out regular dental
check-ups and spread the dental and oral health culture. Al Raisi also
reiterated that the Unit seeks to provide access to dental care to all
community members, at public facilities and homes to save time and
effort and reduced distances for them. It also contributes to
strengthening police services offered to the citizens and residents
alike, including the medical and therapeutic services to patients. “It
also strives to provide the best medical and therapeutic services to
individuals in support of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi government in
providing such services and improving their quality,” stressed Al Raisi.
