The Training Section at the Special Tasks Department of Abu Dhabi Police was crowned champion of the eighth Ramadan football tournament and first volleyball tournament, organized at the level of Directorates and held at its headquarters. The winning team had defeated the Anti-riot Section team in a penalty shootout, following a draw in the official time of the match; the Support Services Section team came in third place.
The Ramadan tournament which kicked off at the beginning of Ramadan, included football and volleyball matches; in the final game, the Training Section team secured victory over the Official Tasks Section team.
Players Abdullah Nouh from the Training Section team and Aziz Al Alawi from the Official Tasks team were named Best Goalkeepers, whereas player Mohamad Saleh Al Menhali was crowned Best Volleyball Player. After scoring six goals during the championship, player Ali Mohamad was named Best Scorer, while Al Fursan team won the Best Team Award.
At the level of administrators and organizing committee, Ibrahim Mohamad Mubarak Al Oreimi, from the Support Services Section, was named Best Administrator, while Radwan Al Rahmawi was named Best Photographer.
Colonel Rashed Suhail Al Ali, Head of Special Tasks Department, praised the organizing committee that supervised the eighth Ramadan tournament, chaired by Captain Hussein Ali Abdullah and includes Yusuf Maatouk, Mohammad Rashed, Jaber Abdullah, Khaled Ali, Ali Salem, Abubakr Al Wardi, Mohammad Monsef and Hisham Al Taifi as members. Colonel Al Ali said: “This tournament was a big success at both the social and athletic levels, as it encourages sports in a scientific and systematic manner, and enhances social cohesion between staff members during this holy month. The tournament included various events and activities, in addition to the football and volleyball competitions; valuable prizes were distributed to the audience”.
