ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, July 12th 2014 [ME NewsWire]The Ministry of Interior’s Ramadan Council, discussed ways to reinforce the sense of patriotism in young people. The council was hosted by HE Hamad bin Ghalita Private Secretary to His Highness the Ruler of Ajman, who emphasized that the Ministry of Interior’s Ramadan Councils are popular parliaments that instill feelings of love and loyalty for the country, and commitment to its laws.
The speakers called upon future generations to protect their country, display loyalty to their work, and dedication in discharging their national duties. He also urged them to acquire knowledge and sciences, and to follow in the footsteps of the renaissance builder and founder, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May God have mercy on his soul.
The council discussed a number of topics under the theme of “United in Destiny"; discussions were moderated by media personality Rashid Al Kharji. HE Hamad bin Ghalita welcomed the speakers and attendees, and expressed his ultimate pride to host one of the prestigious MoI’s Ramadan Councils. He also extended his thanks to Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the initiative to organize Ramadan councils, which encourage respect for the law, across the country. He said that the MoI’s councils have become popular parliaments that inspire patriotism and reinforce respect and commitment to its legislations.
Moreover, Hamad bin Ghalita, Private Secretary to His Highness the Ruler of Ajman, indicated that the booming progress witnessed by the UAE throughout more than four decades represent a very prosperous period of the UAE, whose achievements are written in history with letters of gold; thanks to the unstinting efforts of the renaissance builder and founder, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May God have mercy on his soul, who had a firm belief that human beings are the real wealth behind any country’s progress and prosperity. “Late Sheikh Zayed was a wise leader who translated his ideals of the Union to reinforce the UAE people’s pride and strength, as they rally around their national leadership,” he said.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau tackled the UAE Vision 2021 which consists of four key components: An ambitious and confident people grounded in their heritage; a strong Union bonded by a common destiny; a competitive economy driven by knowledge and innovative Emiratis; and a nurturing and sustainable environment for quality living. “Through these components, the vision seeks to empower the nation and citizens alike, by reinforcing national identity, the spirit of trust, and the sense of responsibility. It also seeks to build strong and stable households and coherent societies, founded on progressive and moderate Islamic and Arabic values, and to promote security, integration and balanced development across all of the country’s emirates,” noted Lieutenant Colonel Al Ghoul.
On the same note, Ali Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), urged citizens to assume their responsibilities for the protection of the country’s sovereignty. “We live by the motto, ‘the Home is united and cannot be compromised,’ he said; calling upon everyone to assume their responsibilities in educating the younger generation and inculcating loyalty, the sense of belonging and patriotism in their souls. “The new generation of men and women is the main focus of all efforts, because homeland security is everyone's responsibility: families, relevant government bodies down to civil society organizations,” he explained.
In his address, Brigadier Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-chief of Ajman Police said: “Our home is united because we dedicate significant attention to security as part of law enforcement efforts. Unfortunately, there are some negative and objectionable behaviors that we wish to eradicate from the UAE, notably the scourge of drugs, which seeks to destroy the young generation, the builders of nations.”
He said: “People who peddle drugs often target schools and young people. To this end, we need to closely monitor our children, raise their awareness at an early age and be firm with them. The ‘home is united’ when we keep our children safe, by inculcating confidence and religious beliefs in them as effective deterrent to delinquent and bad behaviors.”
For his part, lawyer Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Ghafli, tackled the theme: “how do we turn ‘the home is united’ into a way of life?’. He said: “By launching the motto ‘the home is united’, the higher leadership seeks to reflect the prestigious stature and glory of the UAE.” Furthermore, he warned against adopting objectionable ideas, which aim to undermine the stability and security of the UAE; stressing that protection of the country is not the sole duty of law enforcement bodies; it is the duty of all citizens and residents.
Elaborating on the topic titled: “How our forefathers built our union, and how Can we maintain its unity forever?” Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, General Director of the Watani Al Emarat Institution said: “The UAE history is deep-rooted. Through our diligent efforts, we seek to raise communal awareness about the need to take pride in the country’s achievements, particularly given the fact that ours is the only Arab Union to have lasted and succeeded, against all expectations.”
Al Falasi added: “This success was possible thanks to the cohesion and well-knit ties that bind the UAE society. Therefore, it is our duty, as leaders of the country, to reinforce the sense of solidarity in the youth, with a view to maintain the achievements and gains that have been attained in the past, which helped position the UAE at the forefront of world countries, in all domains.”
The fourth section discussed the importance of rallying around the country’s leader. Speaker Rashed Bin Ghalita, Deputy Director of Protocol and Hospitality at the Ajman Ruler`s Court, said: “The country’s leader is a loving father figure to all Emiratis. There are no barriers between the leadership and the people, and the rulers’ courts are always open to people all year round.”
Brigadier Saleh Al Matroushi, Director General of the Civil Defense in Ajman, stressed the need to revise the education system, calling for the adoption of curricula, which focus on inculcating loyalty to the nation and patriotism, with a view to instill these values in future generations since childhood.
Major Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Chief of Strategic Planning Section at Ajman Police GHQ, gave an overview of the Ajman Police strategy inspired by the Ministry of Interior’s strategy, which aims at making the UAE’s security sector one of the most advanced globally. In conclusion, Al Nuaimi noted that team work spirit prevails in all areas of the security sector, which aspires to excellence.
Major General Ali Majed Al Matroushi, former member of the Federal National Council, referred to the importance of instilling patriotism and loyalty to the nation in the heart of the youth. He pointed out that private education has deprived our children of affiliation to the country, stressing that awareness is a shared responsibility between all entities operating in the country.
Matar Al Matroushi, Director of Ajman Medical Zone, said: “We are in need of more cooperation to establish mechanisms aimed at rooting out negative phenomena that plague society. This would help enhance the country’s unity.”
At the end of the council’s session, participants agreed on a number of recommendations, as follows:
The need to enforce close supervision on social media
The need for parents to assume their responsibility and supervise their children
The need to establish a mechanism to monitor public schools and to enhance their role in spreading patriotism and inculcating it in students
The need for local media to assume their role in spreading the culture of patriotism and love for the country among all segments of society
The need to organize such councils throughout the year, not just during Ramadan
The need to reach out to an even greater segment of people who benefit from such councils, to include students and young people, and to hold them at academic institutions
The need to establish a law respect culture national day
The need to organize competitions on the the law respect culture theme at schools, and contests including projects at universities
The need to spread and reinforce the law respect culture among various nationalities and in different languages
The need to infuse academic curricula with subjects related to law respect culture.
