ICT Department Wins Abu Dhabi Police Pistol Shooting Championship

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, July 11th 2014 

The ICT Department at Abu Dhabi Police ranked first in the Ramadan pistol skeet shooting championship for officers in the teams category. The Police Schools Department ranked second, while the Peripheral Regions Directorate came in third place.

The event was organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, as part of the sporting program of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. A total of 8 departments from Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters took part in the championship, which has received considerable attention and strong competition among players.

Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, noted that the championship focused on enhancing the skills of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s officers and increasing their fitness, weapons handling skills and high speed running to enable participants to outrank other competitors. Colonel Al Dhaheri also praised the championship’s success and thanked everyone who participated and contributed to make this success possible.

Colonel Waleed Al Shamsi, Director of Police Schools Department; Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Hosani, Deputy Director of the Social Support Centers Department; and a number of officers took part in the championship.  The honoring ceremony was attended by Major Abdullah Al Hamidi from the Police Sports Union and Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager, the Strategy and Performance Development Department.

It is noteworthy that Captain Salah Shamlan from the ICT Department was crowned champion of the tournament in the individuals results; Major Hussein Al Sinani from the Police Schools Department    ranked second; Lieutenant Saleh Ali from the Forensic Evidence Department came in third place; Colonel Mohammed Al Hosani, from the Social Support Center came in the fourth place; and Major Mubarak Salem from the ICT Department came in fifth place.
