Media personality Mohammed Al Joker moderated the council that tackled the topic of “Social Ties and their Role in Strengthening Society.” In his speech, he praised the Ramadan Councils organized by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Law Respect Culture Bureau at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior; stressing that convening such councils is an opportunity to submit and exchange views and to promote cooperation between the ministry and the various society institutions in the UAE.

Al Joker also pointed out that society’s prosperity, development, and productivity are mainly based on the stability of its families and their commitment to their traditional history. “These councils contribute to finding the best suitable means to support Emirati young men and encouraging them to marry UAE countrywomen in a bid to stamp out spinsterhood and limit the negative impacts of Emiratis marrying foreigners,” Al Joker explained. He added that many state institutions have contributed efforts to educate Emirati young men about the importance of marrying Emirati girls, which contributes to fostering security and stability.”

In his opening speech, Salem bin Huwaimel Al Ameri expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Interior. He also praised the MoI’s idea of organizing Ramadan councils across the country.

He also noted that the councils held during the holy month of Ramadan play a vital and active role in achieving communication and cohesion among community members during the holy month. “These councils are an original approach and are deeply rooted in the UAE society’s traditions and customs. They have always been a tool to reunite community members of all ages and categories, to discuss issues related to community affairs in all areas,” he said.

“Parents have a duty towards educating the existing generation on the need to adhere to the values and customs of society through various ways and means; such as encouraging children to participate in such councils, in order to foster communication across generations and allow children to learn from adults and to acquire the correct behaviors and experiences,” added Salem bin Huwaimel.

For his part, Ahmed bin Salem Al Ameri praised the idea of the Ramadan Councils organized by the Ministry of Interior, which tackle several important topics that serve the UAE society. He also elaborated on many services provided by the country to families, calling for strengthening the family institution.

Moreover, Dr. Al Ameri explained that there are specialized committees in the country that play a major role in bringing about reconciliation  between the husband and his wife in order to avoid dissolving their marriage. He added that these committees have succeeded in reconciling several squabbling couples. He pointed out that there are laws and regulations applicable in the country and designed to preserve the rights of the warring parties in the event of divorce, especially the rights of the wife and children.

Furthermore, Dr. Habib Ghuloon indicated that in light of the UAE openness to the world, families must positively benefit from this atmosphere and protect their children against disadvantages and damages. He also called upon parents to follow-up on their children’s activities, especially when watching movies and series, because some of them spread values and traditions that are alien to the UAE society.
