Abu Dhabi Police Organize the Fifth Knowledge Forum

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, August 14th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Knowledge Center at the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, organized the fifth forum for exchanging knowledge and ideas. The forum, held under the slogan ‘Creativity and Innovation, Excellence Laboratory’ at  the Forensic Evidence Hall at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, is organized in collaboration with the Knowledge Higher Committee.

Major Mohammed Ismail Al Harmoudi, Head of Complaints and Suggestions Department at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, presented the first paper that addressed the concept of creativity and innovation. He pointed out that support from the leadership for creativity is the essential foundation for any institution’s success, as it encourages a cooperative spirit that benefits from the experiences and ideas of others, with a view to develop and improve the provided services and administrative work systems, and additionally contribute to implementing principles of quality and excellence in work.

Major Al Harmoudi demonstrated creativity tools such as: surveys, polls (supportive tools), the Six Thinking Hats, focus groups, monitoring the facility and the workflow, brainstorming and how to apply it, and drawing customer experience maps.

Major Issa Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Strategic Planning Branch Manager at the Operations Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, presented a paper entitled “The Excellence Lab.” The lab monitors the performance index of the operation rooms, follows-up on the requirements of excellence, and holds brainstorming sessions in order to elevate performance levels. He explained that by implementing this concept, the operation room would be the first of its kind to enhance the performance of police work through utilizing the best technologies and tools in improving the quality of the services provided to the public.

Major Al Marzouqi added that the lab is an interactive administrative center that contains administrative and technological equipment, and is staffed by employees who specialize in strategic planning and who are qualified in the field of corporate excellence. He pointed out that the lab will be specialized in monitoring the performance of the operation rooms and follow-up on the requirements of excellence. The lab will also hold brainstorming sessions to develop improvement opportunities in order to elevate performance levels.

During the forum, Major Al Marzouqi listed the objectives of the lab. These objectives include: spreading a culture of excellence, monitoring key performance indicators of efficiency and productivity, improving operations, increasing productivity, encouraging creativity and innovation, providing an appropriate work environment for controlling and assessing performance, applying knowledge learned from mistakes and reducing their occurrences, and validating the efficiency of the operation room’s operational process.

He pointed out that the lab complies with the government’s vision to circulate the creativity lab experience. The experience incorporates the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police to adopt the best accredited standards and official practices used in developing services and to participate in the efforts to elevate work efficiency and performance.  Attendees of the forum included a large number of officers and staff members of the Abu Dhabi Police.
