Touring Neighborhoods and Responding to Reports

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, August 13th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

In line with the commitment to ensure that Abu Dhabi continues to be a secure and safe community, the Abu Dhabi Police have recently added new vans to their fleet of vehicles to foster security awareness among citizens and residents alike. The new vans are also intended to help fight crime, answer the public’s queries regarding the various police services, and immediately respond to emergency reports.

The new vans will patrol the streets and neighborhoods of Abu Dhabi City to support on-foot patrols, in a bid to maintain the gains of safety and security enjoyed by the UAE. This would also reflect the distinguished set of security and community services provided by Abu Dhabi Police to the various society segments.

Major Bahyan Hamad Al Ameri, Chief of the Community Police Affairs Section at Abu Dhabi Police, explained that the new vans are modern, state-of-the-art and highly versatile vehicles. “These vehicles were first deployed in 2013 to undertake various advanced missions and services within residential areas,” he noted. “They are used as support patrols to enhance safety and security and fight crime. Awareness posters are plastered on the vans’ sides in a bid to spread law respect culture, deliver various messages to the public regarding crime prevention, and engage community members in supporting the police efforts to implement the slogan ‘Together Towards a Secure Society’ efficiently.”

Additionally, Major Al Ameri pointed out that the vans are not only used to spread awareness, they are also a tool to enhance communication with community members within their neighborhoods. “These vans support the efforts to create a community police on the move for the service of the various society segments, as they are stationed in specific locations across neighborhoods. The officers on duty distribute awareness brochures that engage community members in the efforts to maintain the gains of security and stability, and answer the public’s queries regarding the various police services. Major Al Ameri also emphasized that the constant presence of these vans across neighborhoods helps to curb crime.

Furthermore, Major Al Ameri indicated that immediate response to reports and handling emergencies are among the unique services provided by these vans to the public. “The vans patrol the neighborhoods between 4:00 pm and midnight. They also carry out surveillance patrols in front of schools throughout the morning period with a view to enhance security and spread awareness among students,” he added. In conclusion, Major Al Ameri noted that the vans’ tasks within residential areas help to expand the Community Police’s reach and promote the unconventional services provided by Abu Dhabi Police to the public.
