Saif bin Zayed Inaugurates New CID Building in Abu Dhabi

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stressed that the UAE leadership is committed to providing all means necessary to respond effectively and to ensure the security and safety of society and its members, including citizens, residents, and visitors. His Highness also explained that the leadership is keen on providing high-quality services that reflect the advanced levels of development that are taking place in various areas within the UAE.

These remarks were made by His Highness during the inauguration ceremony of the new Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building located near the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters on Al Saada Street. HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan was accompanied by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Brigadier Omair Al Muhairi, Deputy Director of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ; and a number of senior officers.

His Highness toured the sections and facilities of the new eight-story building. The tour included the reception hall, customer service hall, various departments and branches of the administration, meeting rooms, training rooms, gym, forensics-laboratory, and technical equipment. HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan tested the electronic shooting range, simulators and security training scenarios, and fired the first live-ammunition shots at the range, with a view to assess its accuracy and effectiveness of the training process to qualify the authorized cadres.

Additionally, His Highness was briefed on the current and future work plans and programs for the department. Urging the department staff to maintain the equipment and facilities of the new building, he encouraged them to enhance its sustainability and to continuously develop their work methods. He also called upon them to be dedicated and hospitable in providing quality public services through the instilled values of hard work.

For his part Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, explained that the new building was built according to the latest and most advanced designs and architectural systems. The building is characterized by its proximity to the city center of Abu Dhabi, which allows quick and convenient access to clients and guarantees the provision of excellent services for the public within an ideal work environment. Colonel Dr. Borshid also indicated that there are dozens of parking spaces designated for customers, in addition to a building for staff-only parking. He also emphasized that the pursuit of the Abu Dhabi Police in providing the best customer services embodies the strategic objectives set by the Abu Dhabi Police.

The new police buildings, constructed under the supervision of the Engineering Projects Administration at the MoI, are environment-friendly and include equipment that reduces the consumption of electricity and water and uses a special air-conditioning system. The buildings are designed according to the most developed and advanced international standards and future requirements that are commensurate with the aspirations of the government. The government aims to fulfill its vision of creating an attractive, sustainable and urban work environment through the provision of various infrastructure and essential services.

Adopting the concept of sustainable buildings reflects the growing interest of the Abu Dhabi Police in protecting the environment as they address issues in economic development, reducing energy consumption, and optimal utilization of natural resources. The buildings have comprehensive recycling processes and rely more on renewable energy sources.
