Abu Dhabi Traffic Intensifies Patrols on School Streets in Al Ain

ABU DHABI - Sunday, September 14th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police intensified traffic patrols along school streets in the city of Al Ain, especially in the intersections and entrances near schools. The step aims to control traffic in these areas that usually witness high traffic and pedestrian movement. The police also deployed the Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing to monitor the traffic along the streets and report any traffic jams. This announcement was made by Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi, Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police.

Colonel Al Bloushi also explained that a number of Public Relations Branch members have spread awareness among motorists and directed them not to stop or park incorrectly in front of school gates in order to avoid traffic and traffic jams.

Pointing out some of the causes that result in traffic congestion, he said, “Parents tend to insist on driving their private cars to drop the children exactly in front of the school gate. School buses additionally park in the car parks, which further constricts traffic due to their sheer size.”

Colonel Al Bloushi asserted that the main construction works at the school streets have been completed. He explained that the street development was completed as scheduled on 31 Aug., 2014 in collaboration with the Al Ain Municipality and the Department of Transport.

In order to alleviate traffic flow on the school streets, Major Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Acting Head of Al Ain Traffic Section, urged parents to consider utilizing school buses for their children’s transportation instead of using private cars. Wishing safety upon everyone, he called upon all drivers to abide by the traffic rules and laws.
