To mark the new academic year
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, September 9th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The
Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) Child Protection Center (CPC) urges
families of the UAE to use the ‘Hemayati’ Application available at the
Apple Store for the iOS compatible iPhone and iPad, and at Google Play
for Android compatible smartphones and tablets. This step coincides with
the beginning of the new academic year, and aims to enhance the safety
and protection of children. The application provides parents with the
ability to communicate with their children at all times, and includes a
built-in feature that enables children to send distress calls to their
parents when they feel threatened. The requests notify the Operations
Room about the SOS notification with a single click. It also enables the
police to keep in constant contact with the families and their children
and handle the "Smart SOS" with the highest priority, while the police
respond to these emergencies within four minutes.
Major General
Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the
Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior, said,
“This application embodies the directives of the higher leadership, and
falls in line with the CPC’s efforts to make use of smart technology in
enhancing public confidence, and in achieving the aspirations of the
UAE to become a platform and role model in child protection and
security.” He said, “‘Hemayati’ is also a translation of the
government’s vision to make the UAE one of the safest places in the
world by achieving a 100% total sense of security and by reducing the
response time for emergency calls to just four minutes.”
The
Secretary General highlighted that the UAE is one of the world's most
secure and safe countries. He also called on all individuals and
institutions to work with determination and resolve to maintain its
security and stability and to protect national gains achieved by this
young country in all fields. Furthermore, he emphasized the government’s
keenness in employing the latest media and technology in order to
contribute to the realization of Abu Dhabi's Economic Vision 2030. This
vision aims to establish the government of Abu Dhabi as one of the best
five e-governments in the world (which falls in line with the Federal
Government's UAE Vision 2021).
Major General Al Nuaimi also
emphasized the importance of concerted joint efforts in enhancing the
necessary protection for school students, and in this regard, by using
state-of-the-art technologies. He also noted that the ‘Hemayati’
Application is also a practical translation of the UAE’s “National
Agenda” during the next seven years. The application relates to the
fields of security and policing, with a goal to make the UAE one of the
safest places in the world. The application enables children to send
distress calls to their parents when they feel threatened and is the
culmination of the efforts of the MoI. The application was launched
earlier for the various digital services in pursuance of the MoI’s
strategy to keep pace with the services provided to customers.
On
the same note, Major General Al Nuaimi encouraged the officials at the
CPC to launch a series of initiatives to coincide with the start of the
new school year. Moreover, he stressed the importance of smart
e-learning methods as per the best practices, in pursuance with the
smartphone e-learning initiative, which aims to create a new learning
environment in schools. Adding further, he pointed out that the
government believes that the new generations have the primary
responsibility for achieving these aspirations. “Our national
responsibility towards them is to prepare them for a new world that
requires advanced skills, so they can benefit themselves and their
community,” said Major General Al Nuaimi.
For his part,
Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, Director of the Ministry
of Interior’s Child Protection Center, said, “The UAE government
attaches great importance to enhancing the quality of life for the
community of the UAE through effective communication, transparency, and
fairness in the provision of services. It is a significant challenge to
provide outstanding police services for citizens, residents, and
visitors. The MoI, in accordance with the best international standards,
seeks to enrich their provided services in order to enhance public
confidence and increase customer satisfaction.”
Lieutenant
Colonel Al Shammari noted that new awareness projects and initiatives
relating to the protection of our students from risks will be announced
at a later time. These projects and initiatives exemplify the keenness
and the attention that the Secretary General and the Chairman of Higher
Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry accords to the various
child protection-related projects and initiatives. "The ‘Hemayati’
Application comes as a response to the requests of parents wishing to
know the whereabouts of their children,” he said.
The use of the
application requires registration in the ‘Hemayati’ system. To do so,
the user must enter the ID number, and upon receiving a message with a

impose a kind of censorship over them. Installing the application on the
