Under the Patronage of Saif bin Zayed : Economic Sustainability Forum Values the UAE Policy of Advancing Global Competitiveness

Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the 2014 Economic Sustainability Forum kicked off today, Monday, in Dubai. The forum is organized by the Economic Sustainability Center at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Headquarters.

Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, inaugurated the forum, stressing that the United Arab Emirates have resorted to a specific approach to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE and its various institutions, in addition to fostering sustainable growth and future prosperity. “These steps were taken in pursuance of the higher leadership’s directives, which strives to enhance the UAE’s competitive edge on the international stage,” Major-General Al Mazeina said. He also valued the police leadership’s support of the efforts aimed at making the UAE one of the most secure and safe countries in the world. Additionally, he pointed out to the MoI’s commitment to cooperate with various community sectors to improve mutual collaboration   to achieve the coveted aspirations.

Furthermore, Major-General Al Mazeina stressed that the comprehensive security system is based on a firm belief in the close relationship between security and economy; whereas economy flourishes where security prevails.

During his speech, the Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police discussed the main pillars for  developing the security system; namely: empowering the human factor by enhancing their knowledge in all areas; developing  policies, systems, and legislations to keep pace with the social development in the UAE; investing in technology and modern techniques to make  high-quality achievements  in providing security and services; building local and international partnerships that contribute to fostering international social security; and implementing strategic plans to support collective work in the UAE. Major-General Al Mazeina also indicated that the UAE winning the bid to host the prestigious Expo 2020 has led to a significant improvement in the results of the global competitiveness indicators in all fields.

Colonel Sheikh Mohamed Abdullah Al Mualla, Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police tackled several key topics in the work paper he presented during the forum. Most importantly, Colonel Sheikh Al Mualla examined the strategic plan of the Ministry of Interior, which stresses the need to make sure that the “UAE becomes one of the safest and most secure countries in the world.”

The Forum reviewed the major achievements that have been made in the fields of security, safety, traffic and civil defense, community, provision of services, and competitiveness in the UAE. The forum also included open dialogue sessions and an exchange of ideas.

The forum was attended by Maj Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai; Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Acting Commander-in-chief of Civil Defense; Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police; and a number of businessmen.
