(BUSINESS
WIRE) American Society of Safety Engineers, the world’s oldest
professional safety society, invites safety professionals to register
for NIGERIA PDC 2015, a three-day professional development conference
and exposition in Lagos, Nigeria on March 3-5, 2015.
ASSE’s
Nigeria Chapter is building off of its successful first professional
development conference (PDC) held last year, which attracted hundreds of
occupational safety and health professionals from across Africa and the
world to discuss and learn about the latest industry trends and
practices.
“Our maiden conference was very
multinational in scope and attracted speakers and attendees from many
countries,” said ASSE Nigeria Chapter President G. Kamil Abiodun. “We
owe it to the public to ensure safety professionals are up to speed with
the latest global practices and safety benchmarks.”
According
to a July report from McKinsey & Company, a global management
consulting firm, Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy that with the right
reforms and investments could become one of the world’s leading
economies by 2030. While oil and gas production remain critical to the
country’s success, agriculture and trade are larger and growing fast,
McKinsey reported.
“Members of ASSE’s Nigeria Chapter
are doing tremendous work to ensure Nigeria’s potential is fully
realized by protecting the workers who are driving this economy to
greatness,” said ASSE President Trish Ennis. “ASSE is committed to
reduce injuries and fatalities in the workplace. We encourage safety
professionals and companies to learn how to reduce their risks by
improving their safety programs.”
The conference, which
will be held at the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos,
is expected to attract hundreds of participants and have exhibitors from
within and outside Nigeria. For more details and call for presenters

upcoming conference, please email pdc2015@nigeria.asse.org.

in 1911, the Chicago-based ASSE has more than 36,000 occupational

health, transportation and environmental issues in all industries,
