Saif bin Zayed Launches “Aqdar” Magazine to Strengthen National Identity of Students

As Part of the“Khalifa Program”

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, December 15th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, launched the first issue of “Aqdar” Magazine, a magazine published by the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program in an effort to promote the national identity amongst students. Alongside various articles that address diverse groups of students, the first issue includes ‘I Raise My Flag High with Knowledge’ and an article regarding the flag and the proper means of which to handle the national symbol. 

Colonel Expert Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Dabal, General Coordinator of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program, and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, said: “The magazine embodies the directives of His Highness in implementing the Student Empowerment Program through creative and innovative means that are attractive to diverse groups of students and encourage them to interact with its message. The magazine incorporates various methods that reflect the realistic aspirations of a wide segment of students and for those around them.”

“A pivotal character of the magazine, ‘Falah’, represents the cultural aspect of the UAE through his principles of hard work, success, tolerance, and moderation – of which are all advocated by the UAE,” he said.

Colonel Expert Dr. Al Dabal additionally stated that “Falah” and the other characters of the magazine aim to shed light on messages related to awareness, prevention, and value to students. The basic terms of reference for the student documents and student awareness have been prepared in cooperation and coordination with the association of 50 federal and local authorities.

“This magazine enables organizational bodies to provide awareness in various topics for the students. Of which, these topics are in line with the objectives of the program and simultaneously consolidate national efforts while expanding the breadth of impact for those that may benefit from the magazine’s messages,” he said.

Colonel Expert Dr. Al Dabal pointed out that: “The Khalifa Student Empowerment Program helps young people in the face of challenges, and the magazine works to establish effective communication channels with these youth in order to empower students to build their life and their future upon a stable foundation of safety alongside achieving the levels of excellence that our nation’s leaders consistently aspire to.”

The magazine will be distributed in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Education to all schools and institutions that are related to the program within the UAE. Those that may wish to contribute to the magazine may send their letters for consideration.
