ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, January 15th 2015 [ME NewsWire]Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, crowned the winners of the Abu Dhabi Police Pistol Shooting Championship. The Championship, organized by the Sports Activity Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, witnessed the participation of 160 competitors. The ceremony, held at the shooting range of the Police Officers Club, was attended by Colonel Mohamed Mayouf Al Ketbi, Head of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police; and Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager, alongside a number of officers and staff members. In the competition, the Police Schools Department ranked first, with the Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department falling in second place, and the Special Tasks Department in third.
Major General Al Raisi stressed the importance of sports and physical activity amongst police members: “Sports activity develops the athletic abilities and physical, psychological, and mental health of our officers. These competitions are held in a bid to boost their levels of job performance, while also promote their competiveness in sports and brotherly ties.”
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, congratulated the winners of the Abu Dhabi Police Pistol Shooting Championship. Colonel Al Dhaheri said: “The police leadership is keen to develop police work through the organization of such competitions that require knowledge, skills, intelligence, and experience. Shooting activities require a combination of physical, intellectual, and tactical expertise which enhances the performance levels of our police members.”
