MoI’s Child Protection Centre Delegation Visits Fujairah and RAK Police


ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, January 15th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

A delegation representing the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Centre recently made a two-day introductory visit to the Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police General Headquarters. The visit reflects the efforts exerted by the center to promote partnership with police institutions and acquaint them with the services, activities, field experience, and achievements which are rendered and attained by the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Centre.

Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Ka’bi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, met with the delegation, which was chaired by Major Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Ali, Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Centre. Brigadier Al Ka’bi was briefed on the latest projects carried out by the center, based on the latest international legislative standards of investigation of crimes related to child abuse. 

The meeting was attended by Colonel Mohammed Rashid bin Naya, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police and Colonel Humaid Mohammed Humaid Al Yamahi, Director General of Police Operations at Fujairah Police.

For his part, Brigadier Ali Abdullah Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of RAK Police, met with the delegation and was briefed on the efforts made by the center to provide child protection, in pursuance of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, Director General of Central Operations at RAK Police; Colonel Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, Head of Comprehensive Police Stations; and Colonel Salim Yusuf Zaabi, head of Al Mamoura Police Station.

The CPC delegation visited the children’s reception centers at both the Fujairah and RAK Police GHQs, in order to review the appropriate facilities provided at these centers to fit children and allow police members to carry out their tasks without affecting children’s moral and emotional state. The delegation also reviewed the efforts made by police to develop legal systems related to protecting children’s rights.

Major Al Ali reiterated the commitment of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior, which is chaired by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to carry out projects and initiatives related to child protection. “It is adamantly important to boost the competencies of child protection workers and equip them with the proper skills and expertise that would enhance the efforts aimed at providing child protection against all risks,” he continued

Adding further, Major Al Ali said, “The strategic approach undertaken by the Ministry of Interior reflects its vision to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world in terms of safety and security. It also reflects its mission that focuses on efficient work in order to promote quality of life across the UAE society.  We realize the significant importance of investigation tools into child abuse crimes; and the need to integrate them efficiently with development plans, awareness programs and future projects related to child protection.” 

The Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Centre delegation included Captain Ahmed Ateeq Al Afrit, Investigation and Coordination Branch Manager and First Lieutenant Ibrahim Hassan Al Baloushi, Social Support Branch Manager at the center.
