ALTV.com Reveals Hit Show ‘Girls Social Experiment’ to New Audiences in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey and Morocco for Special Ramadan Series

ALTV's 'Social Experiment' show uses actors to test how people react to mistreatment on the streets in the Middle East and North Africa. In this example, a Christian lady decides to invite people to an "Iftar", but a bully decides to interrupt her act of generosity. How the Egyptian street deals with this situation is shown in the ALTV show. CAIRO-Wednesday, June 14th 2017 [ ME NewsWire ]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ALTV.com, one of the fastest growing free streaming services recently launched in the Middle East and North Africa, is to air eight special Ramadan-focused episodes of ‘Social Experiment’, a spin off series from the hit show ‘Girls Social Experiment’.

Episodes such as ‘Girl Wants to Get Married’, ‘Waiting on the Street’ and ‘Cancer Girl’, question the attitudes of people on the streets of Cairo when approached by young women asking for help or opinions on personal problems.
Social Experiment has accumulated millions of views and has provoked huge reactions on social media as new episodes are streamed through ALTV’s free video content platform. Due to popular demand, the new episodes see the series expand beyond Cairo into Amman, Istanbul and Casablanca, where audiences are eager to see how different cities react to the show’s fresh approach to capturing views from the street.
The show’s success can be attributed to the controversial issues in each episode and the eight Ramadan episodes will explore a broader range of themes, with episodes centering on male and female protagonists from various age groups. The first episode places an actor posing as a mute refugee reaching out to strangers for help and questions attitudes towards sharing, a subject that is encouraged during the holy month.
“Girls Social Experiment was destined for greatness from the pilot episode,” says ALTV production executive, Heba Musaed. “I’m proud that this has become the most watched show on ALTV.com, but it’s not surprising when you consider the often-controversial themes that it tackles. These are themes that young people face every day, but they have never been covered by the media before. This is why the show resonates so well with the audience. We’re really excited to connect with a wider audience across the Middle East with our spin off series ‘Social Experiment’, which features fascinating themes and diverse locations in our special Ramadan episodes”.
David C. McCourt, founder of ALTV and executive producer on Social Experiment said: “Girls Social Experiment rose to prominence very quickly as ALTV’s flagship show and at its core is the very essence of what ALTV has set out to achieve. Our main focus is on helping nurture the talents of young creators who previously lacked access to training, equipment and a platform to grow their audience. The show, and its evolution into the mini-series, ‘Social Experiment’, is a fantastic example of this in action, but it also engages with audiences who have never had this kind of access to exciting local content that speaks directly to them on the issues and themes that are present in their lives”.
ALTV is currently expanding across the MENA region and Girls Social Experiment is the latest show to grow its international audience after establishing its fan base in Egypt to now reach audiences in Jordan, Turkey and Morocco.
