Abu Dhabi Police and US Department of Homeland Security Discuss Cooperative Training

The discourse of discussions between the Abu Dhabi Police and the US Department of Homeland Security focused on ways to enhance the areas of police cooperation and coordinate trainings between the two parties.

A delegation from the United States of America, headed by Kathy Kraninger, Clerk for the Subcommittee on Homeland Security of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, recently visited the Abu Dhabi Police Training Department. The delegation was received by Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police.

During the visits, which were dedicated to the exchange of information, expertise, and methodologies; both parties learned of the others’ techniques and training methods alongside the mechanisms used to implement modern technology within the policing systems.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Saleh Saeed Al Amoudi, International Cooperation Training Branch Manager at the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police. The visiting delegation included Peter Bob, representative of the US Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, and a number of employees from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Bill Rutton, a liaison officer for the Department of Homeland Security at the U.S Embassy in the UAE, also attended the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, Colonel Thani Al Shamesi presented Kathy Kraninger with a commemorative shield.

"مجلس الداخلية" بالعين يتصدى للعنف المدرسي

بالتزامن مع العودة للمدارس

أوصى مواطنون في مجلس وزارة الداخلية، الذي استضافه مجلس بخيت سويدان بخيت النعيمي في منزله بمدينة العين، بضرورة التنسيق بين الشرطة المجتمعية، ومراكز الدعم الإجتماعي، ومجلس أبوظبي للتعليم تصدياً للعنف بين طلاب المدارس، و أجمعوا على تفعيل دور أولياء الأمور في القضاء على الظاهرة من خلال لغة الحوار التي يجب أن تجمعهم بأبنائهم.

و أكد المشاركون في المجلس، الذي أقيم ضمن المجالس التي ينظمها مكتب ثقافة احترام القانون بالتعاون مع إدارة الإعلام الأمني  في الأمانة العامة لمكتب سمو نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، و أداره الإعلامي عبدالله اسماعيل من مؤسسة دبي للإعلام، أن التصدي للعنف المدرسي بين الطلاب ليس مسؤولية جهة بعينها، بل هي مسؤولية مشتركة، بدءاً من الأسرة والمؤسسات التعليمية والجهات الحكومية  المعنية ، مشددين أن معالجته تكون  بتكاتف جميع الجهود والتنسيق فيما بينها، وذلك من خلال تكثيف جرعات التوعية للطلاب والأهالي.

وناقش المجلس العنف المدرسي، وانعكاساته على الطلاب، وماهي الأسباب والظروف الكامنة وراء انتهاج الطلاب هذا السلوك السلبي، وطرق المعالجة والحماية، إضافة إلى التعريف به، موضحين أنه لا يقتصر بين الطلاب على الإيذاء الجسدي، بل له أبعاد أخرى وهي أشد خطورة، كالإيذاء النفسي والذي يكون أكثر تأثيرا في الطلاب.

وتطرق المتحدثون في المجلس، إلى مجهودات وزارة الداخلية في التصدي للعنف المدرسي من خلال الخدمات التي تقدمها الإدارات التابعة لها خاصة في مجالات حماية الأطفال والنشء وتقديم كافة اشكال الرعاية لهم .

و أجمع المشاركون، بأن المؤسسات التعليمية والتربوية، تعتبر ركيزة أساسية في تعليم النشء القيم الحسنة والأخلاق النبيلة واحترام الآخرين، واعتبار المدرسة بيئة خصبة لبناء الأجيال الصالحة والحد من العنف المدرسي، من خلال تعزيز ثقافة التوعية، منوهين بضرورة أن تكون بيئة الطالب الأولى وهي الأسرة خالية من شتى أشكال العنف الجسدي والمعنوي، وذلك من خلال تعزيز حلقة التواصل بين الأسرة والمدرسة، فضلاً عن تعزيز ثقافة الحوار بين الآباء و الأبناء.

MoI Council in Al Ain Addresses School Violence

In line with the return of the school year

In an MoI council hosted by Bakhit Suwaidan Bakhit Al Nuaimi at his home in Al Ain, participating citizens recommended that the Community Police, Social Support Centers, and the Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) coordinate in response to the violence among school students. Additionally, the participants unanimously agreed on the need to activate the role of the parents through opening the channels of dialogue between the parents and the children in order to eliminate this phenomenon. 

The participants of the council stressed that the responsibility to address school violence among students is not limited to a single entity; rather, it is a collective responsibility that starts with the family and reaches through educational institutions and the concerned governmental authorities. They concluded that awareness should be intensified for both students and their parents through coordinated and cohesive measures. The council, moderated by personality Abdullah Ismail from Dubai Media Incorporated, comes within the series of councils organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Within the discourse of the council, the participants discussed the impact violence has on children and what underlying reasons and circumstances may lead students towards adopting such negative behavior. The council additionally addressed the means of treatment and protection from school violence and how to identify problematic areas. They noted that school violence is not limited to physical abuse, as it may also lead to psychological damage – which has the capability of inflicting far more serious and lasting consequences for students.

The dialogue touched on the MoI’s efforts to address school violence and to provide comprehensive care through services provided by its affiliated departments, most notably in the field of child protection.

The participants also agreed that educational institutions are key pillars for teaching youth the fundamentals of good values, manners, and respect for others. The school environment is a fertile atmosphere to nurture and build-up impressionable generations and to reduce school violence through the promotion of cultural awareness. It was noted that the student’s main environment was that of the family, and it should be free from all forms of physical and psychological violence. Participants stated that they believe that these steps can be achieved by strengthening the communication between the family and the school, and through strengthening a culture of dialogue between parents and children.

Upon conclusion of the council, Bakhit Suwaidan Al Nuaimi expressed his utmost appreciation and gratitude to the MoI for their initiative to organize the awareness councils that discuss various issues concerning the citizens and the future of their children in a friendly environment. Through this, he said that the relationships and communal bonds are strengthened, and the access to the recommendations contributes to addressing the matters at hand and promoting the efforts of official and public bodies.

اشتراطات فنية مُلزمة للصورة الشخصية

شهد  تطبيق وزارة الداخلية UAE-MOI، على الهواتف الذكية التي تعمل على أنظمة   "ابل ستور" و "اندرويد" و"يندوز فون" و "بلاك بيري ورلد"،  إقبالاً  كبيراً من  المواطنين  وأسرهم،  لتجديد جوازات  سفرهم  وفق إجراءات دقيقة وسريعة .

وأهاب برنامج الحكومة الذكية في وزارة الداخلية بالمواطنين ضرورة الالتزام باشتراطات إدخال الصورة  الشخصية على النظام عند   تقديمهم   طلبات  إصدار وتجديد  جوازات  السفر؛  تفادياً  لأية حالات  تأخير  في إنجاز معاملاتهم  وفق الضوابط المحددة والتي وضعت  لتسهيل  إجراءاتهم .

 وأوضح المقدم فيصل محمد الشمري، المدير التنفيذي لبرنامج الحكومة الذكية  في  وزارة  الداخلية ، أن اشتراطات  الصور الشخصية  وضعت  لتخدم المواطنين  خلال  سفرهم  درءاً لمواجهتهم أي عقبات في التعرف على هوياتهم  بالمطارات  والمنافذ الدولية مشيراً إلى أن  هذه  الاشتراطات تعتبر عالمية لخدمة المسافرين  بمختلف جنسياتهم .

وذكر أن الاشتراطات الواجب تطبيقها   لمقدمي طلبات إصدار جوازات السفر وتجديدها من المواطنين  بحسب  ما أقرها قطاع  الجنسية والإقامة والمنافذ،  هي  أن  تكون الصورة  حديثة  وخلفيتها  بيضاء  والوجه مستقيم  عند التقاط الصورة  مع الحرص على عدم استخدام  النظارات  بإطارات  أثناء التقاطها،  وعدم استعمال  العدسات  الملونة.

 وأشار إلى أنه بالنسبة للنساء يتوجب عدم وضع المساحيق  التجميلية  بصورة مبالغ فيها  أثناء  التقاط  الصورة،  وينبغي على الجميع الحرص على عدم  التغيير  في  الصورة  البرامج  الالكترونية  لتحرير  الصور .

واكد الشمري  ان  العمل  يسير بصورة  جيدة في  انجاز معاملات  المواطنين  وتوفير وتطوير كافة الخدمات الكترونياً او عبر التطبيقات الذكية، مشيراً  إلى ان الوزارة  وفرت  عدة قنوات  لتقديم  الخدمة  بيسر وسهولة  عبر  الموقع  الالكتروني للوزارة  www.moi.gov.ae او عبر تطبيقها  الذكي UAE-MOI   على  الهواتف  الذكية التي تعمل على أنظمة   "ابل ستور" و "اندرويد" و"يندوز فون "بلاك بيري ورلد"  بالإضافة إلى  مراكز الخدمة  7  نجوم  بما يوفر أرقى الخدمات  لطالبيها .

MoI: Significant Turnout of Citizens Availing the e-Passport Renewal Service

Passport Photo Requirements to be Respected

The Ministry of Interior’s smart application, UAE-MOI, compatible with iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile operating systems, witnessed a significant turnout of citizens wishing to avail this new online service which brings convenience and hassle-free renewal of passports.

Through the Smart Government Program, the Ministry of Interior urged citizens to respect the requirements established by the Program, namely uploading the photo to the system when applying for issuance and renewal of passports. This would avoid any delays in the completion of their transactions in accordance with specific conditions designed to streamline their procedures.

Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, CEO of the Smart Government Program at the Ministry of Interior, stressed the need to take into account the requirements for the passport photo, which are designed to help make travelling easier, and are used to verify travelers’ identity and ensure they can be easily identified as they cross international ports and airports. “Basic passport photographs are adopted internationally and are intended to serve passengers of different nationalities,” he said.

Additionally, he explained that the applicants wishing to issue new passports or renew old ones must abide by the requirements set out by the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector. “The photo must be current, taken on a white background; with face looking directly at the camera and not tilted in any direction Applicants must remember to avoid wearing glare-on glasses or colored contact lenses when taking the photo,” he added.

“Women should also avoid excessive makeup, and photos must not be digitally enhanced or altered to change appearance in any way,” he stressed.

The CEO of the Smart Government Program underlined that work is going well to complete citizens’ transactions and develop all services electronically or through smart applications. In a bid to provide the service with simplified and easy procedures, the Ministry has allocated several channels through the website: www.moi.gov.ae and its smart application, UAE-MOI, which is available across all mobile platforms including iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile, as well as though its seven-star service centers designed to provide high-end serviced to applicants.
