Africell Holding Announced That It Will Start the Bidding Process with Vendors to Rollout Its Network in Congo (DRC)

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Friday, October 15th 2010 [ME NewsWire]:

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Africell Holding, a subsidiary of Lintel Holding, announced that it will start the bidding process with vendors to rollout its network in Congo (DRC).

This move came following the final acquisition of extra frequencies by its subsidiary Africell RDC. According to the group technical director; “we are ready to roll out now with 9 MHz on the 1800 band and 4 MHz on the 900 band”. This final frequency extension was formalized last September following the payment and the final authorization given by the ministry and the regulator.

The Congo DRC should be the last remaining mega-potential market with a population of well over 60 million and a mobile penetration level of only 15%.

Africell Holding had earlier announced that its subsidiary Africell Sierra Leone has crossed the 1 million active subscriber mark, bringing the group very close to achieving the two million active subscribers in the two markets it operates in, namely Gambia and Sierra Leone.
