Etisalat Afghanistan signs agreement with Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs


Kabul, Tuesday, December 7th 2010 [ME NewsWire]:

Etisalat Afghanistan, a 100% owned subsidiary of Etisalat UAE has today signed an agreement with Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to officially launch the Graduate Trainee Induction Program.


As part of the agreement, Etisalat Afghanistan will be hiring and training 60 Graduate Trainees with the collaboration of Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. These trainees will be provided extensive training and development opportunities by the Etisalat Afghanistan.


The agreement was signed by Mrs. Amina Afzali, Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Government of Afghanistan and Saeed Hamad Al Hamli, Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Afghanistan in the presence of various high ranking officials from Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Etisalat Afghanistan, members of media fraternity.


A comprehensive development plan is being formulated to give these trainees the right exposure and training to take on critical work and future positions of responsibilities within Etisalat functions including commercial, technical, HR and finance. The training of these people in Afghanistan and UAE will be conducted by world class trainers with the help of Etisalat Academy UAE and other reputable training facilities internationally.


Mrs. Aminah Afzali, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs said, “This signature opened a new chapter between Etisalat and the Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs. The training of educated youth is essential for the country’s progress in the field of communications; pivotal for a bright and progressive future of the country. Furthermore I appreciate the resolve for long term commitment by Etisalat to further the development of Afghanistan. She further noted that, Etisalat’s sharing of its culture & values as well as improving the technical capability of the local nationals with the aim of occupying high level positions within Etisalat and other subsidiaries throughout the world shall be highly beneficial. This is the main reason for the success that Etisalat has been enjoying in different parts of the world.”

It is pertinent to mention here that 90 percent of Etisalat Afghanistan work force comprises of local Afghans. The company has recently launched Employee Succession program. Under this program the existing local Afghan employees shall be trained to help them assume the positions of leadership within Etisalat Afghanistan and other Etisalat subsidiaries in future.


This program has kicked off in September this year. And till now 75 People have been trained and total 416 people shall be trained extensively over a period of two years with the collaboration of the Etisalat Academy Dubai and other renowned training institutes of the world.
