DP World Staff Raise Funds To Support Beit Al Khair Society Programs
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, September 6th 2011 [ME NewsWire]
A charity initiative by DP World staff has raised AED 75,000 to support projects run by the Dubai-based humanitarian organisation, Beit Al Khair Society.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region presented a cheque to Abden Tahir Al Awadi, Director General, Beit Al Khair Society, during a brief ceremony at the company’s office in Jebel Ali today (September 06). Present at the function were senior officials from both sides.
The money was raised by DP World’s staff to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan and was generously supported by the company’s customers and vendors through the donation of gifts for a raffle.
Beit Al Khair Society is a 22-year-old welfare body and is widely recognised for its sustained work helping the most economically fragile sections of the UAE’s society, including low-income families, widows, special needs people and orphans.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said:
“This staff-driven campaign was enthusiastically welcomed by our employees, who worked hard to make it a success and raise funds that will help disadvantaged children and families. We are proud that our people so actively embrace the company’s commitment to the community, and are making real one of our core values, which is responsible corporate and personal behaviour.”
Abden Tahir Al Awadi, Director General, Beit Al Khair Society, said:
“We thank DP World and its staff members for their generosity and deeply appreciate their support for the activities of Beit Al Khair Society. This contribution will go towards funding some of our important charity and social welfare projects. We believe such socially responsible initiatives go a long way towards providing much-needed care for some segments of the society.”
