Awards to be presented for the Best Arab Research Paper at the 8th Emirates Critical Care Conference Dubai 2012

 The 8th Emirates Critical Care Conference is being held from April 5th to 7th, 2012under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, President of Dubai Health Authority and the Patron of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences.

MCI Middle East LLC will be organizing the conference in conjunction with the 4th Asia Africa conference of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM) and the 8th International Pan Arab Critical Care Medicine Society (IPACCMS) and is supported by the Dubai Health Authority and Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. Professor Hussain Nasser Al Rahma, the Chairman of the 8th Emirates Critical Care Conference (ECCC-Dubai 2012), President of the International Pan Arab Critical Care Medicine Society, President of the Emirates Intensive Care Society and head of Intensive Care Department, Dubai Hospital, said, "Critical care is a fast advancing specialty and is dependent on highly skilled professionals, latest technology and integration of services." He also added that, "UAE is currently one of the benchmark in Middle East and one of the leaders in critical care in Asia, however the field is ever changing and therefore holding such conferences would bring together esteemed healthcare professionals inclusive of 50 Presidents from various critical care societies from all over the world. This is of significant importance for the continuous rapid development in the guidelines and protocols in the field of critical care which needs such gathering amidst professional expertise to exchange newly set up protocols and discuss results of the latest studies and research to achieve the best patient outcomes and to lower mortality rates

The agenda of the conference will focus on ways of dealing with emergency cases in intensive care units in all medical specialties, such as kidney diseases, respiratory diseases, neurological diseases, head injury and trauma patients. 

25 research papers will be presented, which will hold 130 lectures with the participation of 52 key speakers, 120 international medical colleges and 1400 doctors, nurses and Respiratory technicians working in the field of intensive care.

New developments and research papers from all over the world will be discussed based on the research conducted during the past 6 months in the field of critical care.

In addition, 10 workshops will be held during the conference which will include training on the latest medical equipments and technologies introduced from several universities and research centers used in intensive care units to save patients with respiratory failure or renal deficiency. The conference will present three awards to the best Arab research papers at the Conference: "Al-Razi" award for the best scientific research on intensive care, "Al-Haitham" award for the best research on the management of intensive care units and "Rufaidah" award for the best research submitted by nursing. 

More than 60 critical care societies are participating at the conference; they include the WFSICCM, the IPACCMS, the ESICM and the EICS societies from the USA, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan and the GCC countries, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan and South Africa.
