Broadcast marks first time in the region that a live sports event has been streamed over a hotel IPTV system in full 1080p HD

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Exterity, the leading provider of enterprise IPTV solutions is supporting this year’s international Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship providing an e3555Encoder installed in an Exterity c1101 Chassis enabling the host venue to live stream the event.
The event is hosted at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa. The hotel has implemented the technology to enhance the experience for guests by streaming footage of the event live via an IPTV system right across the property.
The solution was installed by Exterity StreamForce channel partner RPS Technologies, a systems integrator based in the UAE providing complete turn-key solutions for the hospitality and healthcare markets. The encoder will be installed for the entire duration of the tournament and will offer the hotel the option to stream live or pre-recorded action.
The live SDi HD broadcast feed will be streamed over the hotel IP network throughout the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa’s rooms and public areas using the market leading encoder from Exterity. The broadcast marks the first time in the region that a live golf event has been streamed over a hotel’s IPTV system in full 1080p HD.
The e3555 encoder enables the hotel to scale video content to a variety of resolutions up to full 1080p HD. Because the encoder is quick and easy to set up, it is ideal for use by venues like The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa who need to tap into a resource for an independent event like the golf championship.
“Exterity has been able to meet The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa’s demand to make the most of its existing IP network and provide the ability to stream quality video to a variety of different devices throughout the resort,” comments Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. “Having Exterity products installed into such a prestigious resort during a global event is a sign of our growing influence in the Middle East, and both we and RPS hope to build upon the strong relationship we have established with this project.”
