Dubai, United Arab Emirates -
Wednesday, March 6th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
Dubai Internet City (DIC), the
MENA region’s largest ICT hub, this week announced a new partnership with
Gartner to raise the profile of the role of the CIO in the Middle East.
DIC is a strategic partner of the
Gartner Symposium ITXpo 2013, the world’s foremost gathering of CIOs and senior
ICT executives. The international series is held in eight locations around the
world and this year comes to the Middle East for the first time. The global
flagship conference was held in 2012 and attracted more than 20,000 attendees,
including 6,000 CIOs.
Malek Al Malek, Managing Director
of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone said, “The ICT landscape is
changing, and CIOs are being called upon to reimagine strategies and
responsibilities in order to keep up with new technologies, new operating
systems and new security threats. This event provides a perfect opportunity for
key individuals and companies in the industry to share best practice and
network with likeminded and highly qualified professionals. We are committed to
supporting businesses, such as Gartner, that play a pivotal role in the industry’s
development and growth.”
According to Gartner's 2012 CIO
Agenda Survey, CIOs rank increasing enterprise growth as their top priority, a
key topic of discussion at the event. The same report found that 61 per cent of
CIOs plan to improve their companies’ mobile functions over the next few years.
The event is taking place at the
Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, from 5-7 March and sees more than 500 senior ICT
executives come together to discuss a wide range of topics including high
impact business and ICT trends and technologies, leadership and skills
development for the CIO and senior ICT executive and the opportunities and
challenges facing the industry.
A CIO programme has been
developed specifically for the symposium which is based on direct input from
more than 2,000 CIOs. Through a combination of interactive workshops,
CIO-exclusive sessions and guest speaker luncheons, CIOs will be armed with
leadership strategies and techniques to help them develop.
