SmartNode…More than just talk!
(BUSINESS WIRE/ME NewsWire)-- Patton Electronics has fully released two SmartNode VoIP Integrated Access Devices (IAD) that offer a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) slot for fiber-optic WAN uplink.
The new Patton VoIP IADs for carrier-providers and small-to-medium enterprises combine integrated fiber-optic WAN-access with VoIP gateway and VoIP router functionality in a single device.
By eliminating the need for an outboard fiber-optic modem, the integrated interface lowers equipment costs, simplifies network architecture and expedites service deployment when IP-enabling legacy PBX phone systems.
Patton is among the industry’s first manufacturers of VoIP customer premise equipment to offer carrier-grade VoIP IADs with a built-in fiber-optic interface.
"Global deployment of fiber-to-the-building is growing rapidly in carrier networks," said Tyler Delin, SmartNode Product Marketing Manager. "Customers asked for fiber uplinks, and we responded. The SFP fiber-WAN interface for SmartNode PRI-class and BRI-class Integrated Access Devices is tested, fully released, and generally available."
Fiber to the building (FTTB) availability has recently seen significant upswing in Europe, North America and elsewhere. Given that trend, Patton’s latest VoIP solution hits a real sweet spot for Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSPs) and their business-class subscribers.
The SFP fiber-optic interface is offered with Patton's SmartNode 4670 BRI/FXS/FXO VoIP IAD that supports 8 to 16 calls and SmartNode 4990 PRI/T1/E1 VoIP IAD that supports 15 to 120 calls. Both are ideal for connecting traditional enterprise PBX telephony systems with ITSPs and SIP trunking services.
Tyler continues: "Customers can use these new SmartNodes as complete one-box solutions. You can IP-enable any existing PBX system with high-speed fiber-optic WAN access. SmartNode IADs also provide advanced IP routing with standard upstream QoS and Patton's DownStreamQoS—all with the industry's lowest total cost-of-ownership."
Patton products come with free gold-standard customer support. Unique within the industry, Patton’s free-support proposition reduces total-cost-of-ownership (TCO), setting the company apart from other industry players. Most manufacturers require costly support contracts or per-hour charges. Patton provides free lifetime support—including downloadable software updates—at no additional cost.
