Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Extinguishes Fire at Workers’ Housing in Musaffah

The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense teams managed to put out a huge fire that broke out at a workers’ housing and a warehouse in Al Musaffah Industrial Area. No casualties or injuries were reported.
Captain Abdullah Al Tamimi, Head of Customer Service and Public Relations Section at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Directorate General explained that as soon as the Operations Room received notification reporting the outbreak of the fire, a Civil Defense team was immediately dispatched to the scene from the Al Musaffah Center 33, followed by two teams from the Al Musaffah Center 13, Mohammed Bin Zayed Center and Al Wathba Center. Upon arriving to the indicated location, and assessing the severity and extent of the fire, additional teams were called for support and backup from the Al Falah Center, Al Shamkha Center and the Al Qubesat Center.
Al Tamimi indicated that the fire completely engulfed the workers accommodation consisting of 14 rooms, and burned the warehouse to ashes. Another warehouse was partly burned but firefighters managed to put off the flames before spreading. No injuries were reported among the workers.
Moreover, Al Tamimi added that it took around three hours to extinguish the fire, in an extensive operation supervised by Lt. Colonel Hamad Al Riyami, Director of Civil Defense centers in Abu Dhabi and by and First Lieutenant Mohammed Khoury the on duty officer. “Evidence was sent to the Forensic Laboratory to determine the causes of the blaze; and investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances of the fire,” he continued.
Concluding, Al Tamimi urged warehouse supervisors and workers to take and implement the necessary preventive safety measures, provide handheld and mobile extinguishers on location, avoid storing flammable materials and make sure they stub cigarettes out properly. He also underscored the importance of ensuring the good condition of electrical wiring; and avoid loading transformers, especially with the onset of summer and the soaring temperatures.
