Al Suwaidi: Loyalty to the homeland and Commitment to Work
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, June 14th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Deputy Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports attended the lecture organized by the Emirates Institute of Naturalization, Residency and Ports under the theme “Commitment to Work is Loyalty to the Homeland... How to Deal with Work Pressures?” The lecture, which was held at the Police officers Club in Abu Dhabi, was delivered by Dr. Khalifa Ali Al Suwaidi, Assistant Professor, Department of Curriculum and Learning Methods, the Faculty of Education at the U.A.E. University. .
This lecture comes in line with the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector’s Plan to promote the culture of excellence, established by the Strategy and Performance Development Department, in cooperation with the Emirates Institute for Naturalization, Residency and Ports. It is also part of a series of lectures organized by the Emirates Institute, to promote knowledge and spread culture among all personnel in the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector.
At the beginning of his lecture, Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi tackled the connection between loyalty to the homeland and commitment to work, as well as the pressures of life faced by community members. He also raised several questions that underscore the importance of commitment to work and the love and dedication to the homeland.
Moreover, Dr. Al Suwaidi also touched on the professional loyalty indicators, as a verbal contract between the employee and an employer, and provides requirements for success. He also identified professional loyalty failure indicators, namely, constant frowning; neglect and laziness in performing the work; carrying out duties only in the presence of a supervisor; disclosing work-related secrets; abusing office for personal interests; bribery; failure to report conspirators; sickout; frequent vacations; and allowing personal relationships to influence work.
“There are direct factors that lead to success in building loyalty, such as linking personal and professional goals with work, its vision, values, mission and objectives; developing team spirit among employees; and promoting accountability and responsibility. Indirect factors that affect work performance and loyalty include pressures of both work and life”, explained Dr. Al Suwaidi; stressing that teamwork is the essential component behind all organizations’ success.
On the same note, he also indicated that pressures of life are incidental or internal factors beyond our control, that have negative implications such as anxiety and irritability, mood swings and psychosomatic diseases, as well as family and professional problems and unhappiness. Furthermore, Dr Khalifa called for the need to recognize that human life is not perfect, thus we must organize our life, be tolerant, avoid thinking about revenge and have psychological contentment to enjoy happiness in life.
At the end of the lecture, Major General Khalifa Al Khaili presented Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi with a commemorative gift.
The lecture was attended by Brigadier Ghareeb Al Hosani, Director General of Ports and Airports; and Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Abu Dhabi Residency and Foreigners Affairs Director General, as well as directors of departments and heads of department, and a large number of officers from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector.
