ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, July 3rd 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The Human Rights Department at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior launched its fourth community-based initiative under the slogan “Be a Role Model… Leave a Good Impact”. This initiative targets the youth at the Juveniles Care Center in Abu Dhabi, as well as the students of Al Ain Police Officers Club.
The initiative’s program that was organized at Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center featured a number of workshops, presented by a number of male and female youth specialists. The workshops focus on instilling high ethical values, and include several sports, recreational and heritage activities, to motivate the youth to show a spirit of fair competition through purposeful competitions.
The program also included an introductory session to acquaint participants with the objectives of the initiative and its impact on students, attended by a group of students of the Abu Dhabi Education Council along with their parents. Furthermore, a training course on the concept of “Be a Role Model… Leave a Good Impact” was organized for students. The program also featured a number of excursions, including a visit to Al Shwab Rest House where students presented entertaining shows for the elderly, mingled with them to learn from their life experiences, then distributed gifts to them on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan,. Lectures and other events were also held as part of this initiative.
For his part, Colonel Dr. Abdullah Muhammed Bu Hindi, Director of the Juveniles Care Center, emphasized the importance of such community-based initiatives aimed at developing the skills of students in various aspects; discovering their creativity and innovation; and filling their leisure time with useful activities. This action stems from the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police to usefully exploit the leisure time of this important segment of society.
He added: “The ‘Be a Role Model… Leave a Good Impact’ program aims to instill good values and ethics in the hearts of the students. This program is the fourth summer program for students in the city of Al Ain following the three previous initiatives under the theme “My Nation’s Progress Depends on Me”, “Abu Dhabi’s Progress Depends on theYouth”, and “Be a Valuable Asset” .
Concluding, Colonel Bu Hindi praised the vital role played by the various partners to ensure the success of this initiative, namely the Abu Dhabi Education Council, the Social Affairs Department, Al Ain Police Directorate, Al Ain Police Officers Club and the Community Police.
