Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, inaugurated yesterday evening, the Federal Vehicle Portal “Markabati” at the Presidential Court. The first-of-its-kind in the world, this portal provides a comprehensive suite of services, processes and procedures related to all types of vehicles.
“Markabati” is a federal vehicle portal containing several integrated interactive systems dedicated to vehicle procedures. It connects public members to appropriate public and private entities. It will serve as an assembly point for: traffic services, concerned governmental agencies, customs services, insurance services, vehicle accidents, vehicle workshop classifications, spare parts information, a report management system, e-payment portal, and car leasing companies.
Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan commended the efforts to prepare this civilized project. His Highness urged the working team to continue developing the project, in order to meet the future needs of both, the government and public.
Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the SAAED Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, and Head of the higher committee for the Federal Vehicle Portal, said: “The Federal Vehicle Portal ‘Markabati’ stands as a witness to the great efforts made by the concerned governmental entities to improve the services provided to public by launching leading projects in the region. Today, ‘Markabati’ represents the best choice for vehicle owners to save time required for any vehicle procedure; they are carried out efficiently and effectively and with minimal costs. Developing maintenance workshops is one of the main reasons for this project. ‘Markabati’ aims to set standards and rates all workshops working in this field. The portal also has strategic partnerships with government sectors such as the Ministry of Economy, Insurance Authority, local departments of economic developments, and municipalities in addition to others. It also has similar strategies with private sector entities such as Emirates Islamic Bank, Microsoft Corporation, Network Intelligent Payment Solution (NIPS), insurance companies and others.
This portal contains five main foundations under one umbrella. These five foundations will integrate to bring benefit to all stakeholders. The portal provides all vehicle services through one window, with high quality and according to standards that will classify vehicle maintenance workshops and performance indicators of different concerned entities. The portal will also save time for service providers and users, as it integrates vehicle-related services via one portal, wherever users are. It also saves costs automatically through numerous service options on the portal; additionally costs are decreased due to the competitive environment it will create for service providers. The portal will reduce transportation and logistics costs and decrease traffic resulting from vehicle movement. Furthermore, the portal will provide automatic monitoring for the participating entities to guarantee transparency and quality, while controlling performance indicators.
The Federal Vehicle Portal “Markabati” enables customers to buy and sell, acquire licensing and insurance, and carry out inspections and renewals, in addition to allowing other entities to issue documents required for vehicle-related paperwork by connecting the portal to relevant governmental entities. The portal will provide e-linking with vehicle dealers, insurers, and maintenance workshops in order to follow up the vehicle maintenance process. The portal will be launched to work on all mobile environments by the end of the year, and in line with the e-government initiative, the portal’s services will be available to the public via self-service machines in public locations.
Ebrahim Al Zaabi, Acting Director General of the Insurance Authority, said: “This portal is the result of the cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Economy. It will speed up the procedures for the public by providing them with price lists and insurance documents in e-form so they can avoid a visit to the insurance companies. The Federal Vehicle Portal will promote a healthy competitive environment within the insurance market, positively affecting consumers. This will push companies to better their service provisions to extend the best services to clients, in order to guarantee excellence.”
The portal will help many Emirati small and medium-size business owners to enter the vehicle maintenance industry. It will also help insurance companies to reduce their operational costs by leveraging an advanced and distinguished infrastructure, which is supported with modern applications, for only a nominal charge for each procedure.
