The Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police celebrated the graduation of 55 participants after completing three specialized courses spanning over one week. The courses included: Detection and Security Inspection using computer-based training simulation (CBT); Public Communication Skills; and a course for airport security supervisors. Lieutenant Colonel Naima Salem Awad, Head of the Training Branch at the Ports and Airports Security Police Department, indicated that organizing such training courses embodies the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to enhance its police and security cadre’s skills and efficiency as per international-best standards, in both theoretical and practical applications. “Since its inception, the institute has endeavored to achieve the goals of the Abu Dhabi Police’s vision to ensure that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi remains a community enjoying security and safety, by providing high-quality police services to citizens, residents and visitors of the Emirate. The development of these courses is in keeping with the accelerating developments across all police sectors and aims to improve the performance of police staff members in different departments,” she added. Lt. Colonel Awad continued: “A total of 55 participants graduated after completing three specialized courses. Ten members were acquainted with inspection methods using computer-based training simulation; 27 were trained on communication skills with public members at airports and other relevant locations. Eighteen participants were trained on the means to interact with public members based on their different character types.” At the end of the ceremony, Lt. Colonel Awad handed certificates to the graduates, in the presence of a number of officers and officials from the department. She urged the graduates to exert further efforts to maintain the knowledge they acquired and implement it on their career.
