The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi represented by the Al Dhabyaniah Committee, in cooperation with the Medical Services Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, the Mobile Blood Bank, and Daman Health Insurance Abu Dhabi, held a blood donation campaign and a campaign to raise awareness on breast cancer. Both of the one-day campaigns took place at the Emirates Institute of Naturalization, Residency, and Ports.
Dr. Mashael Ahmed Al Tijani from the Health Support Department of Daman Health Insurance delivered a lecture on how to carry out self-examinations for breast cancer; she also discussed rates of breast cancer in the UAE and around the world, risks that increase breast cancer, how to detect it early, and ways to prevent it, and treatment.
This lecture is in line with the vision of the Al Dhabyaniah Committee to enhance the health culture among women at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
Colonel Yusuf Khouri, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, was one of the first to donate blood followed by a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, individuals, female members, and civilian employees.
The campaign included a primary medical examination for employees and clients calculating body mass index, blood pressure, and blood sugar in addition to delivering guidance on physical activities and sports to improve productivity and better health.
Colonel Yusuf Khouri said: “The campaign reflects the strategy of the naturalization, residency, and ports sector, which stems from the Ministry of Interior’s vision and the role it plays in the local community to support humanitarian activities in the UAE. Blood donation helps to save the lives of many patients who would need a blood transfusion as a result of an accident or emergency.”
He stressed the keenness of the general department to empower social involvement and spread the health culture among employees with its strategy and role to serve local community.
