ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, November 22nd 2013
The Diabetes Awareness Campaign organized by Abu Dhabi Police Medical Services Department continued at the Ministry of Interior’s headquarters’ building. As part of the campaign, medical tests were carried out to measure blood sugar levels, blood pressure, as well as cumulative analysis of blood sugar and BMI tests to measure height and weight to determine overweight and obesity. Educational brochures and publications were also distributed to community members.
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services, was one the first to participate in the medical examinations, followed by a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, constables, civilians and female staff members from the various directorates general and departments at the Ministry of Interior.
Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadi, Assistant head of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, stated that the diabetes prevention awareness campaign embodies the Ministry of Interior’s strategy aimed at spreading the health knowledge among the Ministry’s staff members, particularly with respect to the medical and health aspects, in addition to spreading prevention awareness among them to prevent and reduce diabetes.
Major Dr. Tarek Abdullah Al Junaibi, Health Education Branch Manager at the Medical Services Department and Supervisor of the campaign, indicated that the diabetes prevention campaign aims at increasing police staff members’ awareness about the need to lead a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes and blood pressure diseases, rapidly becoming the most common diseases that impact the lives of both individuals and communities.
