ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, January 28th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The
Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters announced that the Mobile Dental
Care Unit’s medical staff has screened and provided treatment to 351
individuals, citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi, during the last
quarter of 2013. The unit will continue its rounds to allow more people
to avail of its dental care services across Abu Dhabi throughout the
year.
It is worth mentioning that the Mobile Dental Care Unit
launched its dental care services in October 2013. The initiative was
implemented in pursuance of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior’s vision, to
strengthen the police institution’s role in community action.
According
to Abu Dhabi Police, the Mobile Dental Unit operates in two shifts,
morning and evening. The dental staff handles screening services and
treatment for patients; while the administrative staff streamlines and
manages the service provision procedures, and assesses patients’
experience with a view to improve performance indicators.
The unit’s
dental staff has already screened and provided treatment for 351
individuals since it launched its operations in October 2013, in
different parts of Abu Dhabi. As many as 83 cases were treated at Zayed
Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care; 102 cases at Al Bateen
Council; 96 cases at Emirates National School; and 70 cases at the
Family Development Foundation’s both branches in Al Sila and Al Hayer.
The campaign was widely acclaimed by the public, which contributed to
its success in providing the best screening services.
The Mobile
Dental Care Unit is a unique and distinguished initiative to improve
access to dental care and save time and effort for all society segments
from their preferred locations. This reflects the Abu Dhabi Police’s
commitment to provide high-end services to citizens and residents,
particularly medical services and therapy.
The Mobile Dental Care
Unit has traveled to different areas across Abu Dhabi to provide dental
check-ups for individuals. This step falls in line with the Abu Dhabi
Police’s strategy to improve its services for the benefit of community
members and to provide them with high-end medical services. It also
supports the Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts to enhance the standards and
quality of services it provides to citizens and residents of the UAE
from their preferred locations. Such services include oral health tips
and dental check-ups, as well as awareness campaigns on the benefits of
good oral health.
As part of its tours, the Mobile Dental care Unit
visited the Family Development Foundation’s branches in Al Hayer branch
in the Eastern Region and Al Sila in the Western Region, in addition to
the Al Bateen Council in Abu Dhabi. It also carried out dental check-ups
and treatment for students at the Ministry of Interior’s Centers for
Training and Employment of People with Disabilities in Al Ain and the Al
Ain Center for care and Rehabilitation of the Zayed Higher Organization
for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO).
Students and faculty
of the Emirates National School also benefited from the dental unit’s
services, which included screening and treatment services. Some cases
were referred to hospitals.
The Mobile Dental Care Unit is fitted
with state-of-the-art equipment for screening and treatment. It seeks to
provide access to dental care to all community members, at schools,
centers for care and rehabilitation for people with special needs,
elderly nursing homes, family development centers, and shopping centers.
Additionally, the unit is intended to carry out mass screening and
treatment to raise awareness on the importance of dental hygiene, in
pursuance of the ADP’s vision to provide the best services to the
public.
The dental team on board the mobile clinic is qualified to
offer its services to people of all ages with a variety of medical
conditions, through a dental surveying program to identify dental
conditions of individuals. It is also designed to provide dental care
services to people with disabilities, students, or the elderly. The team
allows these categories to easily access dental care wherever they are;
in schools, nursing homes, care centers, or any other location.
