The Western Region Police Directorate Team at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) has been crowned champion of the Open Police Modern Rowing Championship for 2014. The Emergency and Public Safety Department team came in second place, followed by the Government and Diplomatic Premises Protection Department Team, in the third place.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, said that this championship is part of the sport activities program organized by the Abu Dhabi Police. “The championship witnessed participation of 10 departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ). It aims to enhance the staff members’ skills and fitness, create an environment of social interaction for all Abu Dhabi Police staff members and instill a spirit of fair competition,” stressed Colonel Al Dhaheri.
The Open Police Modern Rowing Championship for 2014 was organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Department, Sports Activities Section, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club. The championship, which took place recently, witnessed participation of 10 departments representing the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, who competed in the individuals and pairs races for six consecutive rounds.
In the individual races, Mohammed Al Farsi, from the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations ranked first; Omar Al Hammadi from the Police College Department and Nehyan Al Hammadi from the Western Region Police Directorate came in the second and third place respectively.
In the races for pairs, Ali Al Hachimi and Aziz Ahmed from the Western Region Police Directorate ranked first. Talal Al Zaabi and Talal Al Matrooshi, from the Diplomatic and Government Premises Protection Department came in second, followed by Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi and Lieutenant Ahmed Al Afifi from the Forensic Evidence Department in the third place.
At the end of the championship, winners of the Open Police Modern Rowing Championship were honored. Attending the honoring ceremony were Major Mohammed Al Falahi, Chief of the Sports Activities Section; Captain Jamal Al Saadi, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager; and Majed Al Muhairi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club.
