The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Traffic Coordination Department, received a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country. The message states that the competent authorities in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have decided to ban non-Saudi buses that are more than 10 years old, from transporting passengers into the kingdom or through its territorial lands. The decision will be effective as of September 25th.
Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General, Traffic Coordination Department, Ministry of Interior, said that Saudi authorities have come up with new rules and regulations that must be met. According to these rules, buses transporting passengers into KSA must not be more than 10 years old; these measures aim to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers and other road users. Brigadier Al Zaabi urged bus owners to observe these new instructions issued by the Saudi authorities in order to avoid legal accountability.
He explained that the Traffic Coordination Department has instructed traffic and patrols departments and drivers and vehicles licensing departments across the country to inform bus owners of this new decision.
