The Ministry of Interior signed a partnership and cooperation
agreement this morning at its headquarters with Emirate Transport
regarding the provision of technical examination services for heavy and
medium vehicles and equipment. The agreement springs from the keenness
of both sides for enhancing cooperation and implementing the directives
of the government’s strategy of building partnerships between
governmental institutions and its partners from different sectors to
support the public’s wellbeing.
The agreement was signed by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far,
Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior from the Ministry of Interior
side, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirates
Transport from Emirates Transport side.
The agreement aims at providing examination services to medium and
heavy vehicles and equipment, and verifying their suitability to run on
the public roads of the UAE. It aims to have this service reach the
beneficiaries easily, conveniently and regularly, raise the level of
technical examination of heavy vehicles, cooperate in the field of
technical examination and evaluate how suitable the examined vehicle is
in order to run safely and securely on public roads. This is to be done
in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated in the Federal
Traffic Law no. (21) for the year 1995 and its executive rule no (31)
for the year 1997. The technical examination should include: the
suitability of the vehicle from all technical aspects to run on public
roads; and the suitability of heavy vehicles in terms of safety and
security requirements set by the vehicles and drivers’ licensing
departments, the civil defense departments in the country, and by the
Standardization and Metrology Authority. The examination also includes
checking the level of emissions from the exhaust and examining the
vehicle’s environmental footprint.
Lt. General Al Sha’far said that this agreement is an implementation
of the instructions from Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to enhance partnerships
with federal and local institutions and authorities in order to achieve
our common goals and beliefs in joint work.
Al Sha’far stressed the keenness of the Ministry on implementing the
instructions of the higher leadership in their quest towards building a
more integrative and cooperative exchange of expertise and experience
among the federal and local institutions and authorities. These
exchanges will boost the developmental efforts and overall goal of
achieving safety, security and public well-being in addition to
providing the best levels of advanced services through partnerships with
the relevant authorities to serve the country.
For his part, Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of
Emirates Transport expressed his appreciation of the great trust that
the Ministry of Interior grants to the technical services that Emirates
Transport provides, considering the agreement as a qualitative step
towards enhancing cooperation between both sides in this sector.
Al Jarman noted that this agreement enhances the strategic
partnerships, relationships, and integration between the Emirates
Transport and the ministry in a way that fulfills the guidance of our
wise government. The agreement also achieves effective cooperation
between the different institutions and launches joint initiatives to
support and enhance the efforts for implementing the national agenda and
achieving the UAE Vision 2020.
He stressed the interest of Emirates Transport in continuing its
commitment to provide excellent services in accordance with the best
practices and the highest international accredited standards in order to
meet and exceed the expectations of clients. The standards also reflect
the vision of Emirates Transport in leadership and excellence within
the field of transport and sustainable services by supporting
partnerships with the governmental institutions in different sectors.
The signing ceremony was attended by Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al
Zaabi, Director General, Traffic Coordination Department, Ministry of
Interior; Brigadier Mohammed Khalifa Al Marar, Director General of
Undersecretary Diwan at the Ministry of Interior; Colonel Hussein
Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Acting Head of the Public Relations Department at
the Ministry of Interior, from the side of the Ministry of Interior; and
Amer Ali Al-Harmoudi, Director of Emirates Center for Technical
Services, Emirates Transport.
