The Abu Dhabi Police represented by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate inspected the traffic improvement project in the schools area in Al Ain city, expected to be completed before the start of the 2014-2015 academic year.
Major Muslim Al Junaibi, Acting Head of the Traffic Engineering and Road Safety Department at the directorate, stressed that the UAE strives to position itself in the forefront of the most developed countries in terms of safety and security. “This goal can be achieved by implementing the Ministry of Interior’s vision aimed at making the UAE one of the best countries in the world in terms of safety and security,” noted Major Al Junaibi. He added that work is underway to complete the project as soon as possible, according to schedule.
For his part, Captain Engineer Ibrahim Khalfan Al Shamesi, Traffic Engineering Branch Manager in Al Ain, indicated that the ministry has agreed with the company set to execute the project to link the three main traffic light signals at the entrance to the schools street, namely El Amouria, Al Qasr and Al Murur in order to streamline traffic flow pending the completion of the Traffic Control Center Project in the city.
He added: “The traffic lights set to be installed to replace the Al Murur and Al Chouweifat roundabouts will be fitted with surveillance cameras.” Furthermore, Captain Al Shamesi indicated that a special lane was dedicated for school buses through an electronic gate to be installed later, as well as additional side parking lots along the schools street. In conclusion, he pointed out that traffic safety procedures will be inspected before the official inauguration of the project.
