Capital Police Intensifies Efforts to Promote Public Safety during Eid Holidays

The Capital Police Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police intensified their efforts to promote public safety and provide the best policing and community services during the Eid Al-Adha holidays.

Brigadier Maktoum Al Shareefi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate, reiterated the directorate’s keenness to reinforce police presence as well as safety and prevention procedures in places that are visited by the public for leisure during the Eid holidays. He also stressed the directorate’s commitment to strengthen communication with community members, by establishing security, and raising awareness about their community and humanitarian role.

He also pointed out that traffic and security awareness will be intensified among the various society segments, in order to prevent any accidents that may occur and mar the joy of this blessed occasion. “Police patrols will be   deployed across the city, particularly in areas that are expected to witness high density of public crowds such as shopping centers, prayer areas, mosques, and public parks, in addition to residential areas and city entrances and exits,” he continued.

In line with the Abu Dhabi Police Eid awareness initiative, Brigadier Al Shareefi urged parents to keep an eye on their children to protect them against the risks of playing with firecrackers; and to avoid leaving them to play unattended in the main streets. In conclusion, he noted that all the police stations affiliated to the Capital Police Directorate will be constantly ready to communicate with the public and to receive their calls for any assistance.

Brigadier Al Shareefi warned against the risks of promoting and using fireworks, saying that curbing the spread of this harmful scourge is a societal collective responsibility, due to its potential risks on community members and especially children, in addition to the damages they cause to properties in case of fire..

He stressed the need for caution when dealing with beggars and street vendors, because this is often a prelude to other crimes such as robbery. He said that stamping out such practices requires concerted efforts between all competent authorities, in addition to the significant role of the family, being the nucleus of society.

The Director of the Capital Police Directorate called on the public to report any illegal behavior or phenomenon by calling the police operations room at (999) He reiterated the importance of maintaining the civilized and bright face of the city of Abu Dhabi during the Eid holidays and at all times; wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday.

It is worth mentioning that the awareness initiative that is being implemented by The Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, falls under the “Your Safety” campaign, which aims at enhancing awareness about safety and prevention practices within society, to fulfill the vision of the UAE of becoming one of the best countries in the world in terms of safety and security.
