The Higher Committee for Child Protection at the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Interior (MoI) participated in a charity auction in Belfast, Ireland. The event, held on the sidelines of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix aims to help Irish families with children who have cancer.
Two VIP tickets for the Formula 1 Grand Prix races brought in the most money at the auction. Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior, oversaw the initiative; and said:
“We have established the Higher Committee for Child Protection in a bid to protect all children across the UAE, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to help others in other parts of the world, and put a smile on the face of children suffering from any kind of ailment. We hope to bring these children optimism and hope, and help them as they try to overcome their anguish.”
Out of its commitment to become an international and regional role model for its efforts in promoting the protection and security of children; the MoI carries out several initiatives and projects which reinforce child protection through preventative and precautionary measures.
The Ministry’s Child Protection Centre (CPC) aims to protect children against any potential crime that exploits children, and additionally seeks to develop appropriate solutions and initiatives in order to protect them. The centre monitors potential cyber exploitation and any attempts by sex offenders to lure children and teenagers. The centre also monitors behaviors or violations at cyber cafes and public networks, and spreads awareness regarding the optimal use of the internet amongst families and individuals.
