ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, February 25th 2015 [ME NewsWire] As a part of its participation at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference, IDEX 2015, the Ministry of Interior is displaying the next generation technologies and an array of advanced new e-services. The exhibition, which runs until February 26, is held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said that IDEX 2015 is a significantly important event, which reflects the UAE’s leading status and excellent record in hosting mega-international and regional conferences and exhibitions. “IDEX has become one of the world’s strategically important events, commanding international attention and worthily positioning the UAE as a global destination site. It also reflects the remarkable development and expansive progress witnessed by the country in all areas,” he noted.
Adding further, Major General Al Raisi indicated that IDEX marks an opportunity for major security and defense manufacturers and experts from around the world to meet with operators in the field. He said: “The exhibition also provides visitors with the opportunity to get acquainted with the wide range of e-services provided by the Ministry of Interior to the public. It is also the appropriate platform for the ministry to showcase its latest information systems projects, to promote its diverse set of electronic services, and to boost awareness of community members and institutions on the importance of availing of these services.”
Traffic and Patrols
Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Through its participation at IDEX, the directorate seeks to acquaint visitors with the latest projects and technical solutions used in the field of traffic safety; as well as the traffic control and monitoring systems for detecting red signals violators. It also aims at introducing visitors with Smart Traffic Systems Center, which includes tracking systems, patrols distribution and Traffic diversions safety management system, traffic accidents analysis and prevention system, and the smart traffic awareness system.”
Forensic Evidence
According to Brigadier Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department at Abu Dhabi Police, the Chemical Analysis Section at the department is displaying the advanced devices and techniques that are used to ensure criminal justice and law enforcement.
Social Support Centers
For his part, Brigadier Najim Abdullah Al Hosani, Head of the Social Support Centers at Abu Dhabi Police, emphasized that taking part at IDEX 2015 reflects the keen interest in enhancing community members’ awareness on the valuable role of the Social Support Centers Department in resolving family disputes amicably. “The department also seeks to acquaint visitors with the diverse tasks and duties undertaken by the department, and the services provided to society, through an awareness-raising documentary film and distribution of leaflets and publications,” he said.
Information Technology
Brigadier Anwar Al Mulla, Head of ICT Department noted that the department is providing visitors with an overview of the “Sahel System”, along with the Traffic Services System, the UAE Gate, and the E-Gate Project that aims at registering members of the public in E-Ports System.
Directorate General of Residency and Foreign Affairs
Colonel Salim Ali Al Qattam Al Zaabi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, said that participation in the exhibition reflects the directorate’s commitment to communicating with the public that attend such important events. He said: “Since its inception, IDEX has successfully established itself as one the most important events in the defense sector locally, regionally, and internationally.”
He also noted that the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs’ platform at the pavilion provides a detailed explanation for visitors on the wide array of services it provides for citizens, residents, and visitors alike. It also showcases the smart applications, notably issuance and renewal of entry and residence permits; issuance of domestic workers’ visas and work permits, in addition to the online system Fawri, which provides integrated services including residency issuance, renewal, and visa cancellations. “These applications embody the MoI’s strategy aimed at achieving customers’ satisfaction,” he said.
Modern Systems for the “Operations Department”
Colonel Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, Head of the Operations Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the department showcased a set of devices at the pavilion, including the automatic fire detection alarm system, and the Child Alarm Reminder, to prevent cases of children forgotten in locked vehicles. “The department is also showing an awareness documentary film to visitors, aimed at boosting their awareness on the importance of cooperating with police entities and contacting the Operations Room on 999 to report accidents and emergencies anywhere,” he noted.
Security Media Highlights Police Efforts
For his part, Colonel Saeed Al Khajah, Deputy Head of the Security Media Department, said that sophisticated technologies used for the service of the public quickly and accurately are showcased by the department at IDEX. He said: “This aims at shedding the light on the police and security bodies’ efforts, and the various services provided by the MoI to the public.”
Security Support
Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of Security Support Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the department is displaying its MDT system, at the pavilion, and providing visitors with an introductory film about the Events Management Program at the Security Support Department.
Medical Services
In the same context, Colonel Jassem Al Tunaiji, Head of the Medical Services Department at Abu Dhabi Police, commented on the department’s participation at IDEX. He said: “The department is offering free medical check-ups for visitors, including blood sugar and blood pressure tests, as well as computerized eye tests, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement.” He added that health awareness publications are also being distributed at the pavilion, with the aim of acquainting the public with the adverse effects of medications and food, and the side effects of antibiotics and cortisone.
Crisis and Disaster Management
Staff Colonel Ali Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Head of the Crisis and Disaster Management Department at Abu Dhabi Police, gave an overview of the department’s mobile command room.
New Projects
Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Chairman of the MoI’s pavilion supervising committee, said that the exhibition is the ideal opportunity for participants representing the various departments and entities at the ministry to showcase the latest and most sophisticated security techniques and methods, used in ensuring the security and stability of society. He said: “Participation of a large number of departments reflects the police sector’s commitment to strengthening the safety and security of society.”
He also noted that the diverse systems displayed at the MoI’s pavilion include the biometrics system; the e-passport; and the e-ports system; in addition to the early warning system to prevent pile-ups in fog, the Sahel System, Traffic Services System, and the Smart Civil Defense Stations System among others, all of which are designed to ensure the safety and security of society.
Crime Scene
Lieutenant Colonel Salem Al Dir’e, Director of the Crime Scene Department, noted that as a part of its participation at IDEX, the department is giving a demonstration of the 360-degree camera system, the white light inspection device, and the CrimeScope forensic laser used in crime scene processing.
Information Security
Captain Majid Al Hashemi, from the Information Security Department said that participation at IDEX 2015 embodies the police leadership’s strategy, which seeks communication and interaction with the public and the different community institutions. As a part of this participation, the department is displaying a variety of technological services, products, and solutions; in addition to a number of security and surveillance systems.
The Executive Office is also showcasing the Smart Civil Defense Stations System at IDEX 2015; while 999 Magazine is showing a significant array of its issues published in Arabic and English, in addition to the Children’s Magazine.
