Dubai Internet City Brings Droidcon to Dubai for the First Time

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Monday, March 23rd 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Dubai Internet City (DIC), the MENA region’s largest ICT hub, has announced that it is the headline partner for droidcon Dubai, and will bring the world’s biggest android developer conference to the Emirate for the first time from April 14-16 2015.

droidcon Dubai will gather the tech community to learn about the latest Android advances, hear about innovative new technologies from expert speakers and network with people from across the tech and Android industry. The event will further drive the development of the UAE’s start-up landscape by giving talent access to industry leaders, encouraging new ideas, and nurturing innovation.

droidcon has grown to become one of the world’s biggest tech events, with thousands of attendees every year across five continents. Following very successful conferences in locations around the world including Berlin, London, New York and Moscow, Dubai, with its growing tech and developer community, is a natural choice as the newest destination to host the conference. The event will be the GCC’s largest community-driven Android developer conference, and will welcome experts from Microsoft, PayPal, Blackberry, Intel, Groupon, and Facebook to give talks and host workshops.

droidcon Dubai follows a series of events and initiatives headlined by Dubai Internet City this year, including Decode Dubai, DIC’s first hackathon and Drones for Good, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Government Summit 2015 held at DIC. DIC is at the forefront of the National Innovation Strategy and continues to encourage innovation and creativity within the technology and ICT sector.

Commenting, Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone, said;
“We are committed to developing the tech community in Dubai and supporting start-ups and entrepreneurs, and we continue to look at ways we can promote new initiatives and events in order to encourage innovation and creativity.
“Globally, droidcon has played a major role in driving innovation within ICT and more specifically the Android sector, and the Dubai edition will provide the ideal platform for industry leaders to share knowledge with people from across the tech value chain, and support the growth of the Emirate’s Android ecosystem.”
Commenting, Boris Jebsen, Founder of droidcon said;
“droidcon has grown to become one of the biggest tech events worldwide, and we have pioneered the growth of a global network of tech experts who all support the Android platform as a way to achieve business goals.
Following successful conferences around the world, I am confident that Dubai will be an exciting new journey for us, and we hope to establish droidcon Dubai as one of the region’s leading events in the coming years. We are delighted to be partnering with Dubai Internet City, who have truly championed the growth of the region’s ICT industry, and I look forward to hosting the inaugural Dubai event in April.”
