ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, July 27th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police introduced the services provided through the Ministry of Interior’s smartphone app, UAE-MOI, to the attendees of the Liwa Date Festival. Throughout their interaction with the public, the department urged the festival goers to utilize modern technology in the completion of their transactions as they highlighted the importance of using the services of the smart applications. The department additionally distributed user manuals for the applications and were available to answer any inquiries.
According to Brigadier Mohamed Mayouf Al Ketbi, Head of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, the Abu Dhabi Police are keen to raise awareness about the services of the department and to introduce such services to the customers through participation in various events and activities. He said the participation includes the provision of advice and guidance to make it easier to access public services through modern technology and to enhance the service index through the completion of electronic transactions.
The attendees of the Liwa Date Festival were able to review the steps of renewing vehicle registrations, paying fines, and replacing lost or damaged cards through the ‘Sahel’ device, according to Major Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Public Relations Branch Manager at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department. When using the device, the department personnel explained that users need only to insert their Emirates ID into the designated slot in order to retrieve their traffic file and avail the services. Once the user has been identified, the ‘Sahel’ device will display a list of the user’s registered vehicles and allow them to renew registration for a selected vehicle after verifying the technical condition of the vehicle, validity of insurance, and that all fines have been paid. The device will then proceed to print a new registration for the user along with a receipt of the paid amount and validation sticker for the vehicle.
