The IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) honored the UAE Ministry of Interior, by choosing Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police, as President of the IACP Middle East and North Africa’s office, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ali Bin Daen Al Ghafli as vice-president. The announcement was made during the 122nd Annual IACP Conference that was held recently in Chicago, USA.

Major General Dr. Al Obaidly emphasized that choosing the United Arab Emirates to preside over the IACP MENA office reflects recognition from member states and international police institutions for the efficiency of the UAE police and its cultural orientation approach. The accolade is also a tribute to the efforts, partnerships and cooperation made by the UAE with police institutions around the world. “Such efforts embody the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and his unrelenting commitment to enhance international joint action to provide a safe and a stable life for all, in a crime and risk-free world,” he said.

Major General Dr. Al Obaidly also said that there are many forms of cooperation that can be activated between the Ministry of Interior and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), such as exchanging expertise and tacit and field knowledge in the field of security, and providing support to security research. He noted that cooperation includes leveraging the assistance of IACP’s experts to evaluate and review the applied policing laws at the Ministry of Interior, to identify improvement and development opportunities.

Major General Dr. Al Obaidly added that the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is a non-profit organization of police executives, with more than 20,000 members across more than 100 countries. It aims to develop the security capabilities through extensive research in various fields, such as security, counter-terrorism, information exchange systems and anti- human trafficking.
