Win confirms Peugeot's successful re-entry in the small sedan car category
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, November 5th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
After months of anticipation, the Middle East Motor Awards 2013 jury returned its verdict, consecrating the all-new Peugeot 301 winner of the Small Sedan Car category in a glittering ceremony held at the majestic Majaz venue in Sharjah.
This first Middle East accolade for the 301 comes barely months after its spectacular regional launch in Dubai, on May 16, 2013. Long absent from the B and C classes, the Peugeot 301 has come to complement and further consolidate the marque's presence in the sedan range, following the introduction of its mid-size 508 model. In earlier comments at the 301's introduction to the market, Marc Bocque, Head of Peugeot's International Communications & External Relations, had emphasized that "The new 301 heralds an exciting new direction for Peugeot and marks the brand’s strategic return to the sedan segment. The 301 is set to take the family category by storm with its elegant, robust design, spaciousness and tremendous value. It has been specifically designed to conquer the four corners of the globe; significantly increasing Peugeot’s offering in the region as well as internationally".
Since then, the Peugeot 301's results in the region have amply sustained the marque's strategy. "We listened to what mattered most to our customers in the region's specific segments, and wanted to answer their expectations with cars that would make both them and us proud. The 301 joins our all-new line-up and this achievement confirms that it is totally in tune with their desires" said a beaming Jamal Sahl, adding "we thank the jury for their decision, but also our partners in the region who accompanied us along this journey, and, most importantly, our customers who have rallied around the 301 and adopted it enthusiastically."
This resounding recognition of Peugeot's new B and C-class strategy comes weeks ahead of its launch of the Peugeot 408, which will buttress its offering in the sedan range, inserting itself in-between the 508 and the 301, thereby ensuring a comprehensive and attractive lineup in such a sought-after segment.
Resolutely modern, but retaining Peugeot’s refined character and DNA, the 301 sets the benchmark for durable value, comfort and capacity in its class. Sporting the tagline ‘strong outside, generous inside’, the 4-door family vehicle has been developed for markets where driving conditions can be difficult. The car’s suspension has been finely tuned to handle challenging road terrain, while features such as the electronic air conditioning make the car ideal for the hot Middle-Eastern climates. The clever engine’s design saves space to offer record legroom space and boot volume, responding to a segment in which space is a highly sought-after quality. The result is an elegant vehicle that delivers a pleasurable, reassuring driving experience.
The 301's automatic gearbox benefits from Peugeot’s build and design expertise, and the car features a wide range of safety equipment: emergency ESP; ABS; braking assistance; up to four airbags; and ISOFIX, for example. Other modern features include an MP3 audio system, remote boot opening, and rear parking assistance. Also in keeping with Peugeot’s best quality criteria, the engine has been refined and a milestone in CO2 performance has been achieved. The car also features impressive connectivity, such as Bluetooth hands-free kit and USB port.
Jamal Sahl concluded: “The sedan car category witnesses a significant volume of sales in the Middle-East and the 301 is a wonderful opportunity for Peugeot to increase its regional presence. Judging by the response to date, we are anticipating a tremendous future for the 301.”
The top of the range Peugeot 301 Allure is now available in Peugeot showrooms across the region, along with three other models in the 301 range.
