Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, May 29th 2016 [ME NewsWire]
Athena Properties, development and project manager of the Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, has appointed TGM Consultants as joint Leasing Agents to support the retail leasing function.
Taking its name from the Giichi and Ruiruaka rivers that flow through the city, Two Rivers is 100 acres mixed use development with an 851,000 sqm buildable bulk area. The development is set in the Nairobi’s Blue Zone surrounded by the United Nations, US Embassy and Canadian Embassy. The development is anchored by the largest retail and entertainment centre known as the Two Rivers Lifestyle Centre. The mall is the largest in sub-Saharan Africa at 66,000 sqm of GLA and an additional 20,000sqm of Office space in addition to the Mall. The mall is set on 10 acres and will have more than 200 shops anchored by Carrefour as the Hypermarket and Magic Planet as the kids entertainment centre. Additionally, the centre hosts an exciting outdoor entertainment area of another 3 acres which will host an amphitheatre, dancing fountains, aqua play, water wall, promenade and other water zorbing activities. The retail development is designed as a picturesque environment for visitors, guests, shoppers, businesses and residents. With their extensive network of contacts with brands in the MENA region and Europe, TGM Consultants will seek to enhance the existing tenant mix of the Two Rivers Mall by bringing in more internationally renowned brands and retailers.
Commenting on the appeal of Two Rivers as a retail location, Philip Evans, Managing Partner for TGM expressed the company’s delight at being appointed to support the retail leasing aspect of the mall. He said: “The development and project managers, Athena Properties, are delivering on a solid vision for Two Rivers to become one of Africa’s pre-eminent destinations. In terms of location, there are several compelling factors that should ensure a high footfall to the mall and surrounding development. It has easy access to other parts of Nairobi, being 14 Kms away from the Central Business District, just 29 Kms from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and 5 Kms from the UN Complex. This is an exciting opportunity for retailers to enter the Sub Saharan African market and reach consumers with a high disposable income.”
The allure of Two Rivers as an attractive retail location was underlined by Ms. Zahiba Mawji, Sales and Letting Manager of Athena Properties, who added: “There are many factors that will attract a high numbers of visitors to Two Rivers. These include the world class 3 and 5 star hotels, the 3,600-seat amphitheater that will host events throughout the year and open public spaces for visitors and residents to enjoy, which all come together to form a beautiful, scenic attraction. In appointing TGM Consultants as our joint leasing agent, they will be able to introduce international retailers to a true paradise for shoppers.”
The company is lending its knowledge and expertise to support Athena Properties in delivering the best shopping and leisure destination in Kenya. It’s worth noting that TGM has now launched its latest operation in Sub Saharan Africa, in addition to their existing expansion in Egypt, Georgia, Armenia, Pakistan and the GCC.
