WHAT:
Results from the Solitaire with the Intention for Thrombectomy (SWIFT) Study will be announced at a press conference at 8AM CT – followed by a late breaking trial presentation at 12 PM CT. The Solitaire™ FR Revascularization Device is a stent-based mechanical thrombectomy system from Covidien. It combines the ability to revascularize and retrieve the clot in a single device. The device is designed to be passed through the obstruction and deployed, thereby offering the potential for flow restoration and the ability to retrieve clots in patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke. The objective of the SWIFT study is to demonstrate substantial equivalence in the safety and effectiveness of the Solitaire™ FR Revascularization Device when compared to the MERCI® Retrieval.
