Aims to Accelerate Global Expansion and Have Close Ties With Customers in Middle East
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Hitachi Plant Technologies, Ltd. ("Hitachi Plant Technologies") officially launched Hitachi Saihati Engineering Services Co., Ltd. ("Hitachi Saihati") on June 5th, 2012 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This came after Hitachi Plant Technologies has concluded an agreement on December 13, 2011 with Saihati Weir Engineering Services Co., Ltd. ("Saihati") to acquire 70% of the shares of the Saudi Arabian company, which will continue to provide industrial equipment maintenance services. The new company president is Mr. Susumu Nito, who was the corporate officer of Hitachi Plant Technologies Social Infrastructure & Industrial Machinery Systems Group.
Along with maintenance services for compressors and other industrial equipment in Saudi Arabia, Hitachi Saihati will provide comprehensive engineering services. Investment will be made in existing plants to strengthen the company’s maintenance systems. Hitachi Saihati will serve as a base for business expansion in maintenance, manufacturing and sales of industrial equipment, as well as in other infrastructure businesses, not only in Saudi Arabia, but also in other parts of the Middle East.
For Hitachi Plant Technologies, the establishment of Hitachi Saihati is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen its ability to provide full support services throughout the lifecycle of products and systems. Along with capital investment in existing plants, the new company will strengthen its service operations with the aim of building closer ties with local communities and customers in the region and to accelerate global business expansion.
Background to Establishment of Hitachi Saihati
In June 2011, Hitachi Plant Technologies became the first Japanese manufacturer to sign a comprehensive corporate procurement agreement (CPA) with the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco). Under the agreement Hitachi Plant Technologies has supplied and serviced petroleum and natural gas plant compressors for Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company, which has the largest of oil reserves in the world.
For over 30 years since its establishment in 1979, Saihati has developed as its main business the servicing and maintenance of motors, pumps, compressors, and other industrial equipment for the infrastructure of various industrial fields in Saudi Arabia. With two plants in Dammam, Saudi Arabia in the vicinity of Saudi Aramco headquarters, the company has a long record of achievement in doing business with Saudi Aramco.
Demand for industrial equipment, social infrastructure, and related services is expected to continue to grow in the Middle East. Hitachi Saihati’s customer base, human resources, and facilities are expected to serve as key elements in Hitachi Plant Technologies’ plans for further business expansion. Hitachi Saihati will also serve as a strategic base for the Hitachi Group’s social innovation business.
