The Abu Dhabi Police released a behavioral guide in several languages for tourists arriving on cruise ships at Mina Zayed in Abu Dhabi. The brochure aims to provide tourists with an overview of the UAE's tourism culture, traditions and customs.
Lieutenant Colonel Muzeed Al Otaibi, Chief of Tourism Police Section at the Criminal Investigation Department said: “At this time of the year, with weather turning mild, tourists tend to visit the UAE via cruise ship. The Tourism Police officers are always available to serve tourists, and guide them on the rules of public behavior, with a view to upgrade the level of services provided to the public and promote tourism best practices and key concepts.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Otaibi indicated that the Tourism Police has opened a temporary office at Mina Zayed in Abu Dhabi, to deliver the necessary facilities for the large numbers of tourists arriving on cruise ships between November and April next year.
“The Tourism Police officers welcome tourists upon their arrival, and hand them the awareness brochures and leaflets in several languages. This initiative aims to improve police services and offer tourists all means of comfort, to maintain security of the community, and enhance the sense of tranquility,” said Al Otaibi.
He reiterated the Tourism Police’s readiness to deal with tourists. For this end, it has assigned officers who speak several languages, to provide tourists with guidance, tips and information. “The Tourism Police dedicates its efforts to create a suitable tourism environment, by providing security to tourists, which in turn reflects the booming image of the State,” added Al Otaibi.
Al Otaibi said that the Tourism Police has prepared for the arrival of tourists coming by sea, by issuing a number of awareness brochures in several languages. The brochures are as follows: the “Tourist Guide”, the “Beachgoers Guide”, the “Behavioral Guidelines for Tourists” brochure, and the “Taxi Guidelines” brochure, among others.
On the same note, Lieutenant Colonel Al Otaibi underscored the keenness of the section to implement the police leadership’s directives to enhance police performance, and ensure that Abu Dhabi remains a community enjoying security and safety, by providing high-quality police services to the citizens, residents and visitors of the emirate.
Concluding, Chief of the Tourism Police Section called upon tourists to abide by the state laws and regulations, and respect local customs and traditions. He also urged them to avoid uncivilized and inappropriate behaviors, and to respect the feelings of families and visitors of touristic destinations such as beaches; wishing everyone a pleasant stay in the UAE.
